Films about people in extreme situations always arouse keen interest in the viewer. Anyone can put himself in the place of the main character and think about how he would behave in this situation? A good example of such a picture can be the tape "At a depth of 6 feet." Reviews of the film were so varied and interesting that you need to find out what this movie is about and what caused such a wave of discussions.
Plot
Eric Lemarck's life changed dramatically after he had to say goodbye to sports. He was a famous hockey player, after another serious injury he had to leave ice. From that moment on, drugs entered his life. Recently, under the influence of illegal drugs, he had a car accident. After 7 days, a trial should be held, after which he will be forced to undergo a course of treatment for drug dependence. In order not to forget the date of the meeting, he recorded on the mirror in the bathroom: seven days.
The next morning begins with a charge. The radio is announcing that a blizzard is expected today. Eric does not pay attention to it and takes the next dose of meth. Cheering up, he puts on a ski suit, puts a bag of drugs, a radio, a telephone, a skate in his bag and goes outside. He was already late for the bus, and Sarah was taking him to the base. The girl works as a mountain rescuer, and warns the guy not to eat snow in any case, as this can lead to dehydration. Eric gets to the funicular and rolls down the mountain. He wants to do it again, but chooses the descent on the left, which is closed.

At this moment, a blizzard begins, and it is lost in space. As soon as he doesn’t fall into the abyss, he decides to take off his skis and walk. It quickly darkens, and soon wolves appear on the horizon. In order not to fall into the jaws of wild animals, he digs a hole in the snow and lays in it, hiding behind a skateboard. The night passes in a strange state, which can be described as nonsense. His memory constantly draws him pictures from the past. And the next day the guy spent looking for a cellular signal. With the onset of darkness, he sees the lights on top of the mountain and understands in which direction he should now move. The third day brings him unbearable torment - breaking begins. He shook the drugs out of the bag to collect snow and melt on his body. So he gets water.
The rescue
For another 3 days he is trying to get to the top, but now this is not only inhibited by weakness, but also by the open wounds after the accident. His legs were frostbitten and had already begun to blacken. At this time, his mother is worried that her son did not appear at the court hearing, persuades Sarah not to stop the search, because she believes that her son is still alive. With great difficulty, Eric manages to get to the top of the mountain and give a signal. He was noticed, soon the helicopter had already taken him to the hospital. Both legs were amputated there, but he did not lose the meaning of life. Soon he was already telling the little hockey players how he managed to cope with drug addiction and marry a beautiful girl. Despite his position, he had already become the father of two beautiful children.
6 feet deep: movie reviews
A positive reaction from the audience was caused by the fact that the plot of the picture was based on real events. In 2004, hockey player Eric Lemarque survived all the events described in the film "At a depth of 6 feet." The reviews, among which there were most positive ones, indicate that the audience did not just like the movie - they sincerely worried about the guy who was in a difficult life situation. Undoubtedly, the fact that initially the hockey player was shown as a complete addict who has no chance of leading a normal life played a big role in this. Many compared this film with Survivor, but noted that this story is much more tragic and can teach many people who cannot cope with drug addiction on their own.
Opinion of film critics
If the audience’s reviews of the film “At a depth of 6 feet” (2017) were full of emotional phrases, then critics first noticed some discrepancies with the book of Eric Lemarck. They were surprised that in the picture they attached great importance to the spiritual state of the hockey player, although his reasoning and thoughts on the subject of God's providence were practically absent in the print media. Lots of praise went to starring Josh Harnett. He has long established himself as a first-class actor, but work in this drama has become the pinnacle of his creative career, which is confirmed by reviews. “At a depth of 6 feet” (2017) successfully passed in cinemas around the world and earned good marks on movie sites.
