Almost every person in one way or another uses perfume in his life. Everyone wants to leave a trail of pleasant aroma that would be liked both by themselves and others. However, often people make choices based solely on whether they like the smell or not. And almost always they call what they acquire, spirits. However, this is fundamentally wrong, since not everything that can be found on the shelves is perfume. On the contrary, most often you can find other products that have completely different names.
And the point here is not only the name - the characteristics of these products also differ. Very often you can find abbreviations and abbreviations, such as EDP perfumes. What it is? What other abbreviations are there? What do they matter? It is to these questions that you will find the answers in this article. You can find out what EDP perfumery is - what it is, why it is better than EDT or EDC, and much more.
Common abbreviations
Before you consider each of the options for abbreviations and understand what EDP perfumery means (what it is, you'll learn a little later), you need to put together all the abbreviations that exist in perfumery - and, of course, decipher them. So, the first thing you can meet is the letter P. It means Parfum, and it is under it that the real spirits are hiding. If we talk about the above-mentioned EDP, then this is Eau de Parfum - that is, perfumery water.
There are also other abbreviations - EDT and EDC. What do they mean? The first abbreviation stands for Eau de Toilette, and the second as Eau de Cologne. In Russian, these names are known as toilet water and cologne, respectively. Now you have an idea of ββacronyms such as EDP perfumes. What is it, you will learn more in detail right now.
Perfume
So, the first thing you should pay attention to is, of course, P. It is this substance that is called perfume, it is the most persistent and concentrated. The fact is that it is made on the basis of pure 96 percent alcohol with the addition of a high percentage of essential oils. Their percentage in the finished substance is from 18 to 30. Thus, real perfume is a substance that on cotton fabric can retain its aroma for thirty hours without losing the clarity of the smell.
Unfortunately, to date, almost no one makes real perfumes. That is why it was originally said: to call perfume what you get in the store will not be entirely correct. However, what then do people gain? To do this, you need to find out what EDP means in perfumery, as well as how this substance differs from EDT and EDC.
Eau de parfum
Now it's time to take a look at what EDP is and what are the differences from P. Itβs worth noting right away that this type of perfumery is the most common and high-quality of those that are created today on a global scale. There is even a special perfume website edp.ru - perfumes are available in a huge variety. However, not everyone knows how important this abbreviation is. The decoding of it was already indicated above, but what are the differences between perfumery water and perfumes? The fact is that alcohol is used to create it less strong - 90 percent solution. As for aromatic oils, which are responsible for the strength and persistence of aromas, they are in perfume waters from 10 to 20 percent. As you can see, this is much less than in the case of real perfumes - respectively, and the aroma lasts less, on average about four hours.
Eau de Toilette
Eau de toilette is also often found in stores, and it differs in that it has an even lower content of aromatic oils, and is also based on an even weaker alcohol solution. Recently, the advantage in the market has been shifting to toilet waters - if we talk about the male half of aromas, then it almost completely consists of toilet waters. As for the female share, it is still divided between perfumery and eau de toilette, but the latter are gaining a larger and larger percentage.
So what is the composition of toilet water? It is based on a solution, the alcohol content of which can range from 80 to 90 percent. The concentration of aromatic oils in such water is already extremely small - only 4-10 percent. Now you know what EDP and EDT are in perfumery. It remains to consider what constitutes EDC, that is, cologne.
Cologne
Cologne among all the indicated products is the least concentrated. It is made on a 70 percent alcohol solution with a maximum of five percent aromatic oils added. The smell of cologne is kept extremely little - even less than toilet water, in which the resistance usually does not exceed two to three hours. Thus, this product is not very common in the market and is in very little demand. But still, even the cologne has its lovers who constantly acquire it.
