Jan Marek is a famous Czech hockey player who became famous for his performances for the strongest Russian teams. Prematurely died, crashed on an airplane with the Lokomotiv team.
The early years of the athlete
Jan was born in the winter of 1979 in the Czechoslovak Republic.
The guy from an early age grew up an active child, and therefore the parents decided that he should be sent to the sport. For a long time, the family could not decide where the boy would be better, but then the choice was made in favor of hockey.
Marek was pleased to engage in this sport, but did not stand out from his peers. He was incredibly efficient, and the coaches could not help but notice this.
It was very difficult for him, since Jan Marek did not at all resemble a hockey player in complexion. However, as it turns out a little later, the young man will be really talented and will connect his life with hockey.
In childhood and youth, he played for a team from his native city, which was called "Vaigar". At an early age, he sought to always be on the attack, which influenced the fact that in his professional career he would play as an extreme forward.
In the 1995-1996 season, Ian confirmed his talent and became the best player in the youth league. In his native team, he will play a few more years, and then he will begin to perform on a professional level.
Adult career
Before the start of the 1998-1999 season, a nineteen-year-old boy joined the club Ocelargi Trzinec. Given that the athlete was quite young, he was not the main player, but periodically came on as a substitute. In the 2001-2002 season, he became a regular player of the main team and played 52 games in total, earned 42 points in them. Next year, Jan Marek will prove himself in all its glory. The hockey player will play 51 games, throw 32 goals and give 30 assists.
The next three seasons the hockey player will spend in Sparta and will show a fairly high level. In just three years, he will take 133 productive actions and will lead the country's championship.
Despite decent statistics, the Prague team will not keep the star player, and he will go to Magnitogorsk Metallurg.
At Metallurg, Jan Marek will play four incredibly successful years. He will become the best sniper championship in the season 2008-2009. Then the team will win the bronze medals of the World Cup. The athlete will also play in the Champions League final.
In 2011, he will move to Moscow CSKA. It is worth noting that he will partially spend that season in Atlanta.
Later, the athlete goes to Yaroslavl “Locomotive”. Unfortunately, he will not speak for the railwaymen.
The legend of the Russian championship will be Jan Marek. Photos and videos from his games as part of Russian clubs show a passion and delight fans.
Career Team
Hockey player spent a short but rather successful career in the national team of his country.
For the first time he volunteered under the banner of the Czech national team in 2007. Jan will go with the team to the world championship, but the Czech Republic will not win awards. The hockey player will play six games, score two goals and give two assists.
In 2009, Jan Marek again falls into the main team of the country and goes in its composition to the World Cup. The Czech Republic will take only sixth place. The player will take part in five fights, score two goals and give one transfer.
A year later, the Czech team will be able to win the world championship. Marek will play 9 games in the tournament and score 3 goals.
In 2011, the Czech team will win silver, and the hockey player will be able to distinguish himself only once, despite the fact that he will play in nine games.
In total, Jan Marek will play 36 matches for the national team of the country and earn 18 points.
Death
In September 2011, Ian will die with the whole team. The plane, in which the entire Yaroslavl Lokomotiv will be located, will crash on takeoff.
Day of the tragedy will be a real mourning for the whole country. For a long time, relatives will mourn the dead hockey players.
The Czech hockey player went to the camp of the “railwaymen” shortly before the tragic incident. He was acquired as one of the most powerful forwards of the Russian championship. Unfortunately, fate ordered that the athlete did not spend a single game for the new team.
Ian was married. He repeatedly repeated that he was madly in love with his wife. Shortly before the death of a hockey player, a couple had a son, who was named in honor of his father.
Today, the mother brings up the child on her own.
In memory of the athlete
Given that the hockey player became “his” in the championship of Russia, and especially in “Metallurg”, he is often remembered with a kind word.
In the summer of 2012, his sweater was raised above the arena of Magnitogorsk. This gesture was regarded as a sign of memory.
In 2013, the leadership of Prague “Sparta” in the home arena opened a monument to the deceased hockey player.
In the near future it is planned to establish a memorial plaque of the athlete in his hometown.
That was the famous hockey player Jan Marek. His biography could be much larger, but alas, fate decreed otherwise.
