Biography of a Czech hockey player
Martin was born on August 28, 1981 in the city of Trebic, in Czechoslovakia. As a child, he was a very agile and energetic boy. His older brother played hockey, and Martin decided to follow in his brother's footsteps. Thus, Erath Jr., with the full support of his parents, began to study in the local section. Coaches of youth teams very often praised young talent for its speed and technique.
The player’s professional club career began in 1998, when Martin made his debut for the Czech “Zlin”. Although he appeared only 4 times at the rink, the coaches of other more famous clubs became interested in him.
The long-awaited invitation
In 1999, Martin’s childhood dream came true. In the 7th round of the draft, he was chosen by the NHL club Nashville Predators. But before the debut in his new team, Erat Martin spent two seasons in the youth teams of Saskatoon Blades and RD-Rebels, and during that time he played 147 matches, in which he threw 59 goals and gave 104 assists.
The debut in the NHL as part of the Predators took place in 2001. That season was successful for Martin. Over 80 matches, he managed to score 33 points on the well-known hockey system. The following season, the talented striker played only half the championship for the Predators, after which he was sent to the Milwaukee Admirals farm club. In the 03/04 season, returning to the NHL, Erat Martin again showed an excellent game - in 82 games he scored 16 goals and gave 34 assists.
Many NHL fans know that a shutout began in 2004, so Martin had to return to his Zlin team for a whole season. The next seven and a half seasons, Martin consistently played for the Predators, being the main player in the team. During this period, he managed to take part in 571 matches, in which the hockey player scored 409 points.
In 2013, Erath Martin transferred to the club from the US capital, Washington Capitals. After spending a total of 66 matches for the new club and scoring 27 points (goal + pass), in 2014 he becomes part of the deal between VK and Phoenix Coyotes. In the Arizona club, he again managed to show an excellent game - in 96 games he scored 37 points.
In the 15/16 season, Martin is radically changing his career geography and joining the Avangard KHL club. And now he continues to show high-quality hockey as part of the Russian club.

The debut for the Czech national team took place in 1999 at the junior world championship. Martin's team took 5th place, and the hockey player in two games gave two assists. Next was the victorious world championship in the youth team of 2001.
Martin Erat is a hockey player who played for the main national team at three Olympiads and four world championships. The biggest successes are considered to be the bronze of the 2006 Olympic Games and silver in the same year at the world championship.

The 2014 Sochi Olympics was most likely the last in the career of a Czech hockey player. He went to these competitions with mixed feelings. On the one hand, joy and pride in the trust placed in the Czech national team's coaches, and on the other, worries about a wife who was about to give birth to a baby. But, fortunately, everything went well, and now in the family of Martin Erath a magnificent baby grows.
