The Ice Palace (Sarov) is a small, provincial, but exemplary corner of Russian hockey. The hockey club of the same name with the city and the palace, the youth and youth hockey school - all together is a good example for the rest of Russia.

Sarov is a closed city. You can’t just get into the nuclear capital of Russia. Special permission needed. Nevertheless, having a rich history and located in the Nizhny Novgorod region, the city of nuclear scientists is modern and comfortable. One of the “means” of improving the comfortable environment for citizens is ice hockey. That is why in 2001 the ice palace of Sarov was put into operation and a hockey club with the same name was created.
The palace seats 1,200 spectators. There is also a Crystal sports bar. The state of the palace is carefully monitored. Literally this year, for example, the sides of the ice platform were updated, a new video board was installed. Therefore, due to the specifics of the city, guests rarely visit it, which means that something other than hockey matches is as rare in Sarov, but the sports facility is quite comfortable, and the Sarovites love to be here.
Particular attention is paid to children's hockey and pupils of the hockey sports school. For little hockey players there is even a tournament for the prizes of the Sarov Ice Palace.
HC "Sarov" - hockey club
In 2002, on the initiative of the administration of the city of Sarov, a hockey club was created. He was immediately included in the hockey pyramid of the Nizhny Novgorod region, the peak of which is Torpedo (Nizhny Novgorod), playing in the Continental Hockey League. Until 2009, Sarov often played in the first league championship as the second Torpedo team. Since 2009, Sarov has been playing in the Major Hockey League and has the status of the Torpedo farm club in Nizhny Novgorod.
I must say bluntly, “Sarov” is the middle league of the Major League. The highest place in the history of performances in the Premier League was the fifth. This season, Sarov is the ninth. However, for the team, the main thing is not high positions, but the preparation of a quality reserve for Torpedo. For this purpose, Rocket was also organized in Sarov, which played in the Youth Hockey League from 2012 to 2015, but ceased to exist due to lack of funding.
It does not seem to interest the high results of the Sarov-audience either: at the Sarov matches in the Sarov, the hall is always more than half full. The team reciprocates: they are dangerous for any opponent on their home ground, “Sarov”. On the ice, real gambling uncompromising hockey reigns here, even if the Sarovites fail to win.
