Do you like fairy tales? Remember them? After all, they are associated with our childhood with us, and it is they who have a significant impact on the formation of a person’s personality. Fairy tales teach good, help to navigate in life. And, despite the fact that fairy tales are fiction, it is thanks to them that we gain new experience. They make our lives more complete and generalize entire classes of concepts. So, in the topic of today's publication, we consider what it means to “generalize."
The meaning of the word, examples
Based on the interpretation of dictionaries and encyclopedias, we note that to generalize is, first of all, to make something or something common, or universal. As an example, we cite the following sentence: "French fashion has generalized throughout Europe." In this case, the word “generalize” should be understood as “has become general or generally accepted”.
The word “summarize” is also used in the meaning of “summing up the results”, “summing up the conclusions”, “summing up what was said”.
In the process of knowing life, a person moves from concepts of smaller volumes to a concept with a large volume. Such logical thinking teaches us what it means to generalize. That is, comparing objects or phenomena, we must be able to see in them features that are characteristic of them all.
So, here is the simplest example. The word "rose" means a flower. What is a flower? This is a plant. What is a plant? It is a living organism. Using this simple example, a chain of generalized concepts on a certain basis was demonstrated.
