“Clash of the Titans" is a bright fairytale entertainment. The heart of the viewer more than once during the entire timing will come from confusion, horror and delight, especially when Zeus exclaims loudly: "Release the Kraken!" None of the mortals has been given a description of the mythical monster created by the stormy fantasy of animation artists, but this grandiose spectacular spectacle fascinates and does not let go until the last minute.
The origins
The original 1981 film of the same name was an example of a curious but ridiculous fantasy thrash, with weak special effects, effective poses and loud pathos (though Zeus and Aphrodite were played in it by Laurence Olivier and Ursula Andress - wonderful well-known actors). The “Clash of the Titans" of 2010 appeared at a time when impressive blockbusters with endless invented worlds found a second wind. They remembered the original version and decided to release a remake - more serious, with amazing 3D monsters, and not stupid, lurid and funny dolls. The main Kamernovsky hero of Avatar, Sam Warrington, who plays Perseus, adorns the movie with his presence. Also in the picture lit up Kaya Skodelario and Nicholas Holt (TV series Skins) - promising young actors. “Clash of the Titans” has become a new antique epic filmed by director Louis Letterier, known for the films “Carrier” and the sequel to “The Incredible Hulk”, who moved to Hollywood with a friend of the famous Luke Besson.
Praised 3D
Perhaps if the film was shot in a flat, but intriguing and colorful comic book format, it would have looked at least humorous. The vaunted and popular 3D, which paid off in Avatar and was effective in separate episodes of Alice in Wonderland, in the creation of Luis Letterier - as if on a cow is a saddle, even the actors favorite by the audience do not save the situation. “Clash of the Titans” is a vivid example of what happens if a traditional 2D-picture, out of a desire to make big profits or stupidly follows fashion, imposes a newfangled 3D. There is no artistic need and an extreme need for this three-dimensionality even when mythological monsters appear on the screen.

The “Clash of the Titans” will cause moderate interest among the sophisticated viewer as an opportunity to conduct a comparative analysis - what (apart from the modernized technical capabilities of the film industry) over a period of 30 years and how fundamentally has changed in the interpretation of the myth of the illegitimate son of Zeus Perseus from an ordinary earthly woman who killed an insidious woman Medusa Gorgon and saved from the sea monster, Princess Andromeda, who became his wife. During the viewing, the only conclusion suggests itself: the filmmakers, in a decade, carried an expression of some confusion on the face of the protagonist, despite the fact that the ideas of male attractiveness were very transformed, and rather short-haired and curly-haired Harry Hamlin arrived in time for a rather short-cut Sam Worthington. The film “Clash of the Titans”, whose actors are our contemporaries, is still not a failure.
Causes and consequences
The reason for the greater number of unflattering reviews of film critics is not the work of director Louis Leterrier. Rather, the fact is that he got a script that has been rewritten several times already (the very first editions began in 2002). Leterier became a crisis manager, who was hired to work, so he took off at least something. He coped with his difficult task much better than expected. The picture “Clash of the Titans”, whose actors and roles are embedded in memory, is staggering with special effects, discussions of the piquant details of Poseidon's life and the strange blackened Pegasus. And also by the general confusion, which, contrary to the put pathos and heroism, shines through in every frame and camera movements.
Plot
The narration of the film “Clash of the Titans”, whose actors are known to the audience, begins with the fact that a fisherman, leading his fishing in the Aegean Sea, finds a coffin with a dead beauty and a safe and sound baby. A man adopts a baby, giving him a sonorous name - Perseus. The young man matured and was pleased with his existence until their boat fell under divine wrath. Extremely indignant at the increasing disobedience of people, the lord of the underworld Hades launched a bloody massacre. After a while, Perseus learns that he is a demigod and the son of the mighty Zeus. The hero sets off on a campaign to learn how to destroy the Kraken, a monster whom the evil Hades intends to send to the inhabitants of Argos if they do not sacrifice the beautiful Princess Andromeda to him. The plot of the film “Clash of the Titans”, the actors and roles of which made an amazing harmony, sets priorities: Hades wants to overthrow Zeus (Liam Neeson), Perseus wants to take revenge on Hades for all his sins, Zeus wants to save his illegitimate son, but Kraken - he is always always hungry.
65 million, despite restrained reviews
In the early days of the show, the picture raised $ 65 million, the viewer was happy to go to the cinema, not paying attention to the cold and restrained reviews of film critics. The actors of the film “Clash of the Titans” gained even more fans, even the red-eyed smoking Ralph Fiennes, who played the role of Hades. Well, Medusa (Natalya Vodyanova), an undoubted favorite, was noted not only by foreign film fans, but also by compatriots. Her Slavic appearance in a scaly context is a real perfect psychedelia. And her character, armed with serious malice and well-aimed bow, became a real greeting from the period of uncompromising and inspired V-movie like “Conan”, “Travels of Sinbad” and the rest of the classics. The audience will certainly remember the actors of the film “Clash of the Titans” playing secondary roles - blind and creepy predictors - witches, genies, chasing scorpions the size of a mansion, and others.
