The brave heroes, for whom the Russian land is famous, have again turned into the main characters of the new part. The adventures of Ilya Muromets, Alesha Popovich and Dobryni Nikitich came out in exactly the new year, counting on a mass audience who wanted to dilute the winter holidays with high-quality animated films called âThree Heroes: Horseback Ridingâ. Reviews from the audience will show how successful the famous Russian franchise was. And in this article we will try to determine the success or failure of the film, based on the assessment of the audience and the overall rating of the cartoon.
The long-awaited tortured sequel
The popularity of the previous parts could not put a bullet in the history of popularly beloved heroes. The fairy tale âThree Knights: Horseback Ridingâ is a scenario invention of authors who have not combined the three most famous characters of Russian epics for the first time. The sixth animation project, telling about Alyosha Popovich, Dobryn Nikitich and Ilya Muromets, was invariably staged by the Mill studio. From year to year, this domestic company is trying to release the next part, hoping for success. Not an exception was âThree heroes: Horseback knightâ. The reviews that the cartoon managed to collect, however, say that nothing happened except for a tortured plot and an acute shortage of decent jokes.
What is the failure?
The list of reasons for the failure can be analyzed indefinitely, but we will try to get away from the gloomy mood, and consider the âMove the horseâ from a neutral point of view. As they say, there are no comrades for the taste and color, and therefore we can safely assume that there are those who really liked the cartoon âThree Heroes: Horseback Runningâ.
The main thing is to intrigue ...
In anticipation of a future film, viewers, having barely seen the trailer back in the spring of 2014, were looking forward to complete success and something new that they had not seen before. Indeed, many noted that the trailer just turned out exciting, which can not be said about the film itself. The fairy tale âThree heroes: Horseback Ridingâ, unlike other paintings dedicated to the heroes, takes them to the background, making Julia the main character. We all remember this witty horse, the faithful assistant of Alyosha Popovich, who not only knows how to speak, but defends honor and dignity. Of course, only in conversation, in fact, Julius turns out to be cowardly and reasonably smart in order to get out of the water dry.
... and do not overdo it with the plot
This time, the real horse accidentally witnesses the conversation of the boyars preparing ... a conspiracy against the prince. Definitely, because Julius could not hear right! Three heroes scattered about their affairs, and therefore the palace remains without protection. But our hero would not be Galius Julius Caesar, and therefore takes the prince's guard in his hooves!
âHorseback Ridingâ, designed for young spectators and parents who came with them, can be attributed to the category âCartoons for Children and Adultsâ. However, the predictable and almost non-dynamic plot largely determined the denouement - even the children, as adults noted, already from the middle of the film knew what the ending would be.
A typical problem is lack of imagination
Any screenwriter tries to bring something original to every new plot. An atypical narrative line, a fair amount of humor, a special twist on which you can distinguish a picture from among its many competitors. This postulate was doubly extended to the cartoon âThree Knights: Horseback Ridingâ: the sequel should not be similar to any of the previous parts. The highlight was the action of the picture, unfolding in the colorful expanses of Ancient Russia, which any viewer will be pleased with. The script, âtailoredâ to the old customs and traditions, was the pivot of the story, while the kind, and at the same time simple humor, covered all this âwith the headâ, being a kind of decoration of the film.
Problems of modern animation
So it was with the previous parts of âThree Heroesâ. Unfortunately, âHorseback Ridingâ was completely ruined by the missing plot, sucked from the finger, and jokes that were so small that you hardly notice them. Most viewers unanimously agreed.
It is unfortunate that such âproblemsâ of modern cinema fell not only on full-length films, but also on cartoons for children and adults, passing separately for young viewers. This is largely determined by the fact that the authors of the three heroes franchise did not devote enough time to the birth of an original idea worthy of being
realized, spending it, the time, and the speedy creation of a sequel that turned out meaningless and uninteresting.
Scenic blemishes
With the general failure of the plot, special attention is paid to secondary components, such as the shortcomings of the authors, which led to the failure of the cartoon. His favorite horse, Julius, whom the audience first received in âAlyosha Popovich and Tugarin the Serpent,â still possessed his charisma, but not bright enough to be remembered in the sequel âThree Heroes: Horseback Ridingâ. Feedback from the audience said that this character was losing ground before his eyes: if in âAlyosha Popovichâ he abounded with jokes that became winged expressions, then Juliaâs sayings, like many of his actions, carry an element of childish tomfoolery.

Another detail that caught my eye was a tree that migrated from the same Alyosha Popovich. Why should it be transferred to a new part, and even step on the same rake with deception and cunning? Unfortunately, the actions of the prince, who so easily loses his state, seem to be a âblackâ mockery of the authors, which crosses out the ancient Russian story of fidelity to his country, courage and bravery not only of the warriors, but also of those who govern it.
What is the secret to success?
Despite the fact that the cartoon was waiting for the prevailing mass of negative audience reviews, he collected a good box office. This is largely due to the release of the picture, which was successfully selected for the New Year holidays, when the number of people wishing to go to the cinema rises at times. What can be attributed to the factors that led to a positive impression?
Before - familiar characters, once again met in the animated film "Three heroes: A knight's move." The heroes of the sequel are not limited to heroes only. Here you can meet the familiar horse Julius and Prince of Kiev, as well as Tikhon, Lyubava, her grandmother and Alyonushka, flashed in a couple of episodes. A feature of this part was the absence of a key enemy, such as, for example, the Tugarin snake, who stole gold from an honest people. Pirates, who do not know how to get into Old Russian fairy tales, do not look like rivals. Therefore, we can say that the heroes, the main characters, were waiting for one big adventure.

Oak performed by Dmitry Nagiyev, according to viewers, is the main antagonist of the sequel âThree Heroes: Horseback Ridingâ. Nagiev brilliantly recreated the image of the arrogant swindler, his character turned out to be spectacular, and ingenuity could not be compared with the ingenuity of the heroes. In this part, Oak puts everything at stake - no more, no less, but a whole state, wanting to turn Kiev into a gambling capital! The moral of this storyline can be caught in the fact that any gambling, no matter how large they are, does not bode well.
The soundtrack âThree Knights: Horseback Ridingâ was a great addition to the overall perception of the film. Music evoking old motifs changed with a dance arrangement, creating an incredible flavor. It seemed that in the new part, the authors decided to recall all directions, without focusing on one thing.
And yet, compared with the impressions of adults, the emotions in the children turned out to be completely different. What bribed them to âThree Athletes: Horseback Ridingâ? Reviews of parents say that young viewers were satisfied with the viewing. All they did was admire familiar heroes and enjoy the colorful picture without delving into the plot. This is quite enough for them.
New faces or old heroes?
Julia, as the most charismatic and witty character, the authors fade into the background. The franchise gives place to other characters: the prince, Oak, Potan, Gypsy, mother of Ilya Muromets. The creators focused on attracting viewers familiar with the previous parts. It would be easier for them to meet with their beloved heroes again. Along with this, a key place is given to the main characters. Alyosha Popovich, Ilya Muromets and Dobrynya Nikitich, saving Kiev from arbitrariness, still form the main triangle: three heroes. âHorseback Ridingâ was voiced, as before, by wonderful Russian theater and film actors who gave voices to screen heroes.
Heroes need to know in person
According to viewers, they created a successful creative tandem, which can not be discerned. All voices, so different by ear, give charisma, give the characters the appropriate characters. This can be said about Dmitry Nagiyev and Nargiz Zakirova, voiced Oak and gypsy. If the former already had the experience of voice acting (a teacher in the âSnow Queenâ, Cassio in the âGladiators of Romeâ), then for the performer who recently went to the musical Olympus thanks to the show âThe Voiceâ, such work was a new test. According to the singer, it was a pleasant experience that left fond memories of working on the cartoon. If the creators of the franchise ever make a sequel, Nargiz will be happy to take part in this. Gosha Kutsenko was ideally suited for the role of Potani, and Leah Medvedev, with her girlish tone, again reminded of Lyubava, the faithful bride of Alyosha.
A number of eminent professionals entered the star ensemble of the cartoon âThree Heroes: Horseback Ridingâ. Actors, without betraying themselves and fans of the franchise, once again reincarnated as screen characters:
- Sergey Makovetsky (Prince of Kiev).
- Dmitry Vysotsky (Julius).
- Oleg Kulikovich (Alyosha Popovich).
- Valery Soloviev (Dobrynya Nikitich).
- Dmitry Bykovsky-Romashov (Ilya Muromets).
Not single heroes
Not only âThree Heroesâ can attract the attention of viewers of the older and younger generations. For those and others, one can highlight several striking examples of domestic animation, worthy of family viewing. Among them are: âStar Dogs: Squirrel and Arrowâ, âDwarf Noseâ, âNew Adventures of Alyonushka and Yeremaâ, âAbout Fedot the Sagittarius, a retired young manâ, âAdventures in the Emerald Cityâ, âIvan Tsarevich and the Gray Wolfâ ( two parts) and others.
Any verdict is not a hindrance to success
Relying on spectator reviews divided in half, viewing âThree Heroesâ has every chance to leave a favorable impression. Despite the fact that he does not reach the level of the first parts of the franchise, you can close your eyes to the absurd lines of narration, sagging plot and naive denouement. All this pays for ease, lack of philosophical morality and love lines. Success is complemented by such components as the rich technical side, which did not lower the bar compared to the previous parts, the dubbing, which, as always, was done with soul and professionalism, and a memorable soundtrack. âThree heroes: Knight's moveâ is easy to perceive, able to cheer up and make you smile. Each viewer will make his own choice. Have a nice view!
