For a long time, the Punisher was not particularly lucky with the film adaptations. All films with this character, as a rule, were coolly received by professional critics and ordinary viewers. An exception is his appearance in the second season of the series Daredevil, in which the role of Frank Castle was played by actor John Berntal. This version of the cruel anti-hero was liked by many fans of the original character, which is why it was decided to remove the full-fledged series "The Punisher".
Who is the Punisher?
At the center of the story is Frank Castle, an experienced soldier and former combatant. Unlike other heroes of the Marvel universe, he does not have any superpowers or fantastic technologies. Castle is a trained fighter who manages well with melee and firearms. These skills are enough to instill fear in all the criminals of New York.
As mentioned earlier, Frank Castle, expertly performed by the actor of the series "The Punisher" John Berntal, participated in various military operations. Returning to his homeland, he wanted only one thing: to live peacefully with his wife and children. But, unfortunately, his dream never came true. Frank's family died during a shootout of local mafiosi. Having learned all the bitterness of loss and resigned to the loss of those closest to him, Castle realized one simple thing: the war does not want to let him go even on his native land. He gave vent to his inner beast, who, with sadistic cruelty, loves to take the lives of other people, and declared war against the entire criminal world of New York.
In the second season of the series Daredevil, Frank was caught by a superhero, whose name was called the television series. For some time the Punisher was absent on the streets of the city, but this did not stop him from destroying the members of criminal groups directly in prison. While behind bars, he decided to negotiate with criminal authority Wilson Fisk. Seeing the benefits of freeing Castle, the crime boss turned up an escape for him so that he could clear the streets of his competitors.
