Olga Korobka is a famous Ukrainian weightlifter. He has the title of Honored Master of Sports. He works under the leadership of Vasily Kulak, head coach of the national team. Three-time European champion.

Olga Korobka was born in 1985 in the town of Bobrovice. This is a district center in the Chernihiv region with a population of only 11 thousand people.

Her father was a security guard and her mother was a housewife. Statically, Olga went to her grandfather, only at birth her weight was 4 kilograms 100 grams. Studied Olga Korobka in the most ordinary high school. In the third grade I began to do weightlifting. The first training took place in the school basement.

After receiving secondary education, she entered the Agricultural University in Lviv.

The first major competition for the athlete was the World Cup in Canadian Vancouver in 2003, when she was only 18 years old. With the result of 277 and a half kilograms, she managed to win a bronze medal. “Silver” was then the Russian Albina Khomich. “Gold” was taken away by Chinese woman Ding Meiyuan.

In 2006, she was able to repeat her achievement. The tournament was held on the other side of the world - in Santo Domingo, in the Dominican Republic. In order to fully acclimatize and show their best results, they had to leave for the competition a few days before they started. Preparation as a result was successful.

Olga significantly improved her last year's performance - 127 kilograms in a jerk and 157 in a push. In total, it amounted to 284 kilograms and was enough for the second bronze medal of the World Cup in his career. The second this time was another Chinese woman - Mu Shaunshuan, and the victory was won by South Korean weightlifter Chan Mi Ran. Moreover, the final result turned out to be the same - in total they raised 314 kilograms (30 kilograms more than the Ukrainian). Chan Mi Ran won with fewer attempts.

First victory

The first victory at the representative tournament, the pupil of SC Dynamo won at the European Championship in Poland in Wladyslawowo in 2006. Olga Korobka performed in the weight category over 75 kilograms and won with the result of 290 kilograms (127 in the snatch and 151 in the clean and jerk). Her closest pursuer - Russian Natalya Gagarina - raised 19 kilograms less, the Bulgarian athlete Yordanka Apostolova became the bronze medalist.

In April 2007 Olga Korobka went to the European Championships in Strasbourg, France. Weightlifter, as before, performed in the most prestigious category - over 75 kilograms.

She is improving her previous results again. Raises 133 kilograms in a jerk and 160 in a push. The total result of 294 kilograms allowed her to win. Moreover, the result in a jerk became a new continental record.

It is worth noting that her advantage over rivals was overwhelming. Belorussian Ekaterina Shkuratova, who took second place, lost to her 37 kilograms, another Ukrainian raised another kilogram less - Yulia Dovgal.

In the same 2007, Olga V. Korobka took part in the World Championship in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The victory was again played among themselves by the Korean woman Chan Mi Ran and the Chinese woman Mu Shuanshuan. They set a world record, again raising the same total weight - 319 kilograms. And again, thanks to fewer attempts, the victory went to the representative of South Korea.

The box performed worse than in the European championship. In total, only 281 kilograms obeyed her. This was enough to win the second bronze medal of the World Cup.

In 2008, the representative of SK Dynamo went to the next European Championship - in the Italian town of Lignano Sabbiadoro.

The final result is even worse than the previous one, but in Europe even such kilograms no longer obey anyone. With an indicator of 277 kilograms, the Box becomes a three-time European champion. Her compatriot Julia Dovgal raises 19 kilograms less, the Polish girl Magdalena Ufnal remains in third place. Success in this sport does not go unnoticed at home. One of the most popular and favorite sports is weightlifting. Women who bring victory to their country in international competitions are surrounded by attention and care from fans and admirers of this sport.

The Ukrainian champion can only be removed from the European pedestal only in Minsk in 2010. She lifts 273 kilograms, while Russian Tatyana Kashirina takes 297 kilograms. The Ukrainian woman has silver.

Beijing Olympics

The biggest victory was achieved at the Beijing Olympics, Olga Korobka. Weightlifting could bring the national team the 15th medal.

The Ukrainian weightlifter lifts 277 kilograms (124 in the clean and jerk and 153 in the snatch). This result brings the national team a silver medal. Olga lost the victory only to the eternal rival - Korean Chan Mi Ran. This award was the only medal won by the national Ukrainian team in this sport.

4 years after the Olympic Games, on the eve of the next Olympics in London, a major scandal erupted, weightlifting was at its center. Women participants and winners of the competition were closely monitored. The international community was primarily interested in the results of doping tests.

Unfortunately for the Ukrainian Weightlifting Federation, Olga Korobka’s tests are positive. Repeated studies demonstrate similar results. The athlete is disqualified for 4 years. She is prohibited from competing in any competition held under the auspices of the International Weightlifting Federation.

She became one of a dozen athletes who were convicted of doping at the Beijing Olympics. These were representatives of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Spain, Cuba and Azerbaijan.

By a decree of the International Olympic Committee, the Box is deprived of a won silver medal, as well as five more athletes who competed in those competitions.

Because of this decision, Olga was excluded from the final protocol for doping. The second place went to the representative of the state of Samoa, Ele Opeloge, and bronze was in the weightlifter from Nigeria, Mariam Usman, who had not won any medals before.

More recently, Olga Korobka became a mother. The 31-year-old athlete, whose disqualification ended recently, had a son. The child was born 54 centimeters tall and weighing 3 kilograms of 640 grams. It is worth noting that his mother was about a pound heavier at birth. The birth took place without complications in one of the medical institutions of Chernigov. Now Olga is recovering and is preparing to return to big sport.
