Primary foot arthrosis: treatment and prevention

Arthrosis of the foot is a joint disease caused by wear and metabolic degenerative changes during menopause. This disease is not considered inflammatory, such as arthritis or chronic polyarthritis, and it does not cause pathological changes in the joint fluid.

Arthrosis of the foot can be primary and secondary. The diagnosis of primary arthrosis is established with an unclear cause of the disease. According to doctors, it occurs as a result of age-related changes. With the obvious cause of arthrosis (trauma, vascular disorders), the doctor immediately diagnoses “secondary arthrosis”.

Acute pain when walking, or continuous chronic pain, a feeling of discomfort, an exhausting restriction of freedom of movement in the joint are the symptoms that manifest arthrosis of the foot. The treatment of primary arthrosis in official medicine is carried out comprehensively by restoring blood circulation in the tissues of affected joints. Aspirin, nicotinic acid, troxevasin contribute to the improvement of blood microcirculation.

Serious movement restrictions that negatively affect the quality of life are the consequences that arthrosis of the foot causes. The treatment of this serious illness should be trusted only by a professional doctor. Otherwise, in the absence of adequate therapy, arthrosis is able to switch to adjacent joints.

For some time, pain can be reduced with the help of complete rest, joint unloading, thermal procedures and salicylates, which, as a rule, is prescribed for the diagnosis of foot arthrosis. Treatment with hydrocortisone injected into the joint is another commonly used method, after which there is a lasting improvement over the course of the disease. Antiarthrotic drugs (mucartrin, rumalon) will help restore metabolism and regenerate articular cartilage.

In the early stage of primary arthrosis, physiological procedures are used: ultrasound, radon bath, mud therapy. Therapeutic gymnastics with arthrosis is also quite effective.

In addition to the above methods, which can overcome primary foot arthrosis, treatment with folk remedies also gives a positive effect, but not immediately, but after 2-4 weeks. Here are a few folk remedies to relieve arthrosis in the joints:

· The bar of chalk is crushed into dust. A small amount of yogurt is added. The resulting slurry is applied to the joint, covered with a film, a bandage is applied on top. Such a compress must be put overnight for two weeks.

· Boil oatmeal for 5 minutes in 0.5 liters of water and refrigerate. The mixture is applied daily as a compress on the joint.

· Take olive oil (1 tablespoon) and ¼ teaspoon of garlic juice. Drink before breakfast to relieve pain.

· Mix in equal parts glycerin, flower honey, iodine and alcohol. Rub the affected foot towards the heart. Helps with pain.

· Moisten wool with cabbage juice and bandage it to the joint. Eliminates pain.

However, with a prolonged course of primary arthrosis, pain can finally be eliminated only by surgery, creating joint stiffness. Thus, the unpleasant symptoms accompanying foot arthrosis are significantly reduced. Treatment, for example, performed promptly by compression arthrodesis technique, leads to the most rapid and good effect. In the later stages of arthrosis, laser therapy helps a lot.

Preventive measures to prevent primary arthrosis of the foot:

  • Wearing shoes to fit the foot.
  • Age-appropriate motor activity to maintain normal blood supply to the joints and support them in a functional state.
  • Supporting optimal weight with diet therapy.
