Features and design differences of certain types of military weapons were inherited by their copies, which seriously affected the characteristics of traumatic weapons. So, the endless debate about which is better: a pistol or a revolver, won in general by supporters of automatic pistols, was continued. Traumatic revolver or traumatic gun? The arguments of each of the parties are the same as those cited for military weapons. In favor of the pistol says its ergonomics, high power, roomy magazine and high reload speed. The traumatic revolver, in turn, is simple and safe to operate, always ready to fire and has one hundred percent fire reliability. The misfire will not be an obstacle to the next shot.
And yet, due to design features, a traumatic revolver can use only relatively weak ammunition and, therefore, its effectiveness is less than that of a pistol. Hence the conclusion: if maximum striking effect is necessary, then a gun should be chosen, and if reliability and aesthetics are important, then, of course, a traumatic revolver. Why did we mention aesthetics? There are simply few people who would not find the elegant forms of the revolver attractive. And for most owners, the appearance of their weapons means much more than its effectiveness. After all, it is not known whether it will be necessary to use it or not, and you have to hold it often, so I would like it to be nice.
Traumatic revolver and ammunition
Cartridges for a revolver are structurally different from pistol cartridges. Their sleeve has a protruding flange, with the help of which the cartridge is fixed in the drum. Due to this feature, as well as the length of the chamber, these cartridges are very versatile, and any traumatic revolver can shoot them, if only the caliber is appropriate. The most affordable and well-proven cartridge is 380 IU GUM. It is produced by several domestic companies, but varies in power. The most powerful cartridge 380 ME GUM is produced by AKBS; its muzzle energy is 50 Joules. However, now you can find drum systems under the 9 mm R.A. pistol cartridge, for example, the “Thunderstorm” traumatic revolver. The price of ammunition and weapons does not depend on its system, so it cannot be one of the reasons for choosing.
