Legends of werewolves appeared in ancient times. A monstrous creature in the full moon and an ordinary person in the rest of the time - in a nutshell you can describe a terrible monster, which is often called a human wolf. Films about these creatures are much inferior in popularity to films in which such carriers of evil as vampires, ghosts or crazy maniacs appear. But still, cinema for all the time of its existence has created several quite decent films about human wolves. Consider the best werewolf movies listed below.
"Wolf" (rating 6.9)
The main character named Will returns home at night. Suddenly, a black animal rushes under the wheels and hits the bumper of the car. Shocked Will gets out of the car and approaches the beast to examine him, but the animal sharply bites the hero's hand and runs away.
From this moment, the guy’s life changes dramatically: during the day he is an ordinary person, but when a silvery moon appears in the dark sky, it becomes different. At first, these changes were minimal: hairy hands, pointed ears and teeth, but soon Will is less and less like a man, and more and more like a wolf.
Van Helsing (rating 7.5)
This film was released in 2004 and became a kind of remake of such famous films as "Frankenstein" and "Dracula" by Bram Stoker. Van Helsing is worthy of being featured in the best werewolf films . The list of monsters killed by Van Helsing (the main character of the tape) contains hundreds of different creatures. The central character is a true fighter against evil, serving the secret order, which is engaged in the extermination of the evil spirits that inhabit different parts of the globe. Van Helsing had a chance to meet with many monsters and witches, but now he is entrusted with a new task: to go to Transylvania and destroy the supreme vampire - Count Dracula. This villain fits perfectly into films about werewolves. The list of the best films about these monsters could not do without the brainchild of Bram Stoker.

Van Helsing together with a faithful companion sets off on a journey. On the spot, the characters learn that Dracula, together with the brides, is trying to revive his offspring, which is always born dead in bloodsuckers. For this task, they want to use a werewolf body. Thus, in addition to vampires and Frankenstein, the protagonist encounters wolf people - the only creatures that can kill Dracula. And Van Helsing decides to take advantage of this.
"Another World" (Rating 7.3)
The Underworld project also falls into the category of Best Werewolf Films. A list of such horror stories would not be complete without this movie. In 2003, cinemas began showing a tape demonstrating the war between vampires and werewolves. In total, four parts of a fantastic action movie with horror elements came out, but the first scored the highest rating, so it was she who got into this review.
For hundreds of years, clans of vampires and werewolves have been fighting among themselves. In our time, the war would seem to be over: the main werewolf Lucian was destroyed, and his descendants fled and hid in the deepest corners of the dungeon. Vampires ready to celebrate their final victory catch the remaining human wolves and destroy them. The main heroine of the picture is the vampire Celine, a relatively young girl (as much as possible for long-lived bloodsuckers), who at one time, while still a human being, almost died from the clutches of werewolves, tearing her entire family apart. She was saved by Victor - the dominant vampire - and turned into a similar creature. The best films about werewolves, the list, rating and descriptions of which are presented in this article, often tell about the infection of people with a special virus that turns them into monsters.

The protagonist suspects: something is going wrong. Wolves began to act too boldly: they attack people in open places and at the same time are armed with advanced anti-vamp weapons. Tracing the wounded werewolf through the sewers, Celine manages to find out that Lucian is still alive, and did not fall in battle at the hands of one of the members of the Celine clan. And this means that among the vampires a traitor appeared to help the enemy.
Starting his own investigation, Celine reveals a series of mysteries and secrets, learns about the new purpose of the werewolves and about who actually killed her family. These are the horrors. The list of the best horror films about werewolves adorns this wonderful series.
"American Werewolf in London" (rating: 7.0)
This picture was released back in 1981, and along with the horror film "Wolf" is considered one of the classic films included in the rating of "Best Movies about Werewolves", a list of which, unfortunately, is not very full of really worthwhile projects.
Two Americans come to London to have plenty of fun and wander around the surrounding area. A carefree couple of fun people, for their misfortune, chose the wrong time for a walk: a moonlit night. As a result, having climbed into the back streets of mysterious London, friends were attacked by a monstrous creature. One young man died on the spot, and the second was bitten by an unknown creature.
Subsequently, incredible changes began in the guy’s body: he gradually began to grow furry and turn into an ugly and terrible creature, from afar resembling a wolf, but having more ugly forms. The incredible torture of transformation turns into wanderings around London at night in the guise of a werewolf.
"In the company of wolves" (rating 6.9)
The best films about werewolves are complemented by the bloody picture "In the company of wolves." A creepy beast kills a girl right in front of her sister Rosalyn. The second girl managed to escape, hiding in a house located in the middle of a dark forest. The old woman living in it told the heroine a lot of terrible stories about young women who fell in love with guys with sparkling eyes and bushy fused eyebrows, and then disappeared without a trace, and no one had ever seen them again.
Once, on a road to the house, young Rosalyn meets a mysterious hunter in the forest, who immediately liked her. A conversation starts between the couple, and only then the girl finds out who this man really is.
The Wolfman (rating 6.13)
We continue to discuss the best films about werewolves, a list of which complements this gloomy horror. The protagonist has long lived in America and is now returning home, to his native England, in search of his missing brother. Upon arrival, he learns that terrible things are happening in the vicinity of his beloved town: an unknown monster is tearing the villagers apart, and no one can catch him. On top of that, Scotland Yard police investigating the massacre are showing keen interest in the hero. The character understands that he is becoming the prime suspect in the killings. And from this moment, a series of the most interesting events begins to unfold.
Werewolf Sister
The sister of the main character Bridget is attacked by a terrible creature and inflicts serious injuries on her. Bridget tries to do everything in her power to save her sister, but the attempts are in vain. The girl eventually dies, and, worst of all, the protagonist becomes infected with her blood.
Bridget feels how terrible and unusual things are happening to her day after day: she turns into an unknown and terrible creature - a half-human half-wolf. Day after day, the transformation inexorably brings the girl to the final stage, when she finally turns into a werewolf. Bridget takes various medications, but medications only slow down the action of an unknown poison in her blood, but cannot neutralize it. The girl’s strength is growing inexorably, and her appearance is approaching the final stage of the monstrous transformation.
Afterword
Above, we quickly appreciated the best films about werewolves. There are many different films about people-wolves and in addition to those listed above, but most of them, unfortunately, are so poor-quality that they get a rating that wanders around the mark of 4 points. We did not include in the review, which included the best films about werewolves, the third part of Harry Potter and the notorious Twilight, since these movie sagas, although mystical, have little to do with real horrors. It should only be noted that they were awarded quite high marks, especially the epic about the young wizard.
