What is agitation? This is the creation of change. This phenomenon can be called influence, voice, propaganda or campaign, but all these actions are aimed at creating change. Whatever you call it - and whether you are trying to save the local community center from closure or lobbying for governments, voluntary and community-based campaigns are aimed at creating positive changes in the world.
Real world change
Impact is a real-world change created by a campaign. This is the difference that it makes to people's lives or the environment. Why campaign and what is campaigning? This may be the best and most effective way to achieve goals. There are many reasons why voluntary and community organizations choose this method to achieve their mission. Campaigning can address the root causes of social problems, not just the consequences.
Some organizations can use a two-pronged approach: they are able to provide services to support people experiencing a particular problem, as well as take actions to eliminate the root cause of the problem. An example is government policy or decision. Holding such events can draw attention to new issues that have not yet been raised by policymakers. Because voluntary and community-based organizations are often very close to their service users and beneficiaries, organizations can use the experience they have gained to highlight these issues.
Collective voice
Campaigning can help give a voice to those who do not, or combine disparate voices to create a collective opinion. Campaigns can lead to social changes and the provision by the state of resources, services and benefits that are many times greater than the resources used to campaign. Such measures are sometimes the only possible action, especially when the scale of the problem is large or cannot be resolved without government intervention.
Who can engage in campaigning? Anyone, you can be a parent who wants to save the local park from private developers; or an international human rights organization that challenges the legality of anti-terrorism legislation. Some of the participants are employees, but most of them are volunteers who have chosen to help improve the situation.
The basic requirement for a good agitator
There are many different ways of campaigning, but commitment and passion for a cause or problem is a prerequisite for a good advocate.
What is agitation?
Campaigns mobilize public attention to achieve social, political or commercial goals. We are talking about a number of measures aimed at influencing the policies and practices of public or private bodies. Campaigning helps to demonstrate that the problem concerns not only your organization, but also members of the public, voters and consumers.
A successful campaign demonstrates the concern of a large number of the public. This public opposition can damage the reputation of the government (and their chances of re-election) or the company's market share (its share price). What is agitation? This is an engine of social change, which not only informs the public about a particular problem, but also motivates it to speak out and act in support of change. Once you reach a critical mass in support of your problem, you have a chance of lasting change.
Advocacy for Change
Raising awareness about a problem is not the same as advocating for change. Awareness of this problem is only the first step in the engagement process. Many people already know, but simply do not consider the issue important enough to act. To make a real difference in life, you must take people beyond the scope of “awareness”, create a sense of urgency and the need for change, and help them visualize a new future and enable them to play their part in the changes.
What is agitation? This is a motivational exercise that narrows the focus of attention to get people to do something that will lead to change. The public is surrounded by a variety of problems, so a good agitator needs to make them feel that this problem is important and urgent, in order to then motivate them to certain actions.
It may be necessary to provide the skills and resources that people will need to take action. For example, you can provide activist training, effective reference materials (visual agitation), a briefing before any meeting, sample letters that they can adapt, a petition that they need to sign, or a list of events that they can carry out.
Community mobilization
Campaigns can be described as organized actions on specific issues aimed at changing the policies and behavior of institutions or specific community groups. Propaganda can be very different, for example, the president’s campaign is aimed at the election of his people. This may be a series of related operations designed to achieve a specific result of his election campaign.
This can be a protest, an advertising action, a planned course of actions formulated to achieve specific goals in the field of marketing, public relations, improving quality, generating revenue, safety standards and much more.
