Each building must have primary fire fighting equipment. The fire safety manual in any organization has paragraphs explaining how to act during a fire and what measures to take to prevent the spread of a fire source. Persons who violate the requirements of the instructions are responsible for this.
General Provisions
Primary fire extinguishing means are various types of fire extinguishers, special fire hydrants, additional equipment (sand, asbestos cloth, felt, shovels and buckets) and auxiliary tools (axes, crowbars, etc.). They must be at every enterprise, and the head of the organization is responsible for their availability. The manager is also responsible for training employees in the operation of all these tools.
It is strictly forbidden to use fire equipment for other purposes not related to extinguishing a fire or conducting training on fire safety.
Primary fire extinguishing equipment should be in an accessible place and should not interfere with the evacuation of personnel. For their placement, as a rule, special fire shields are provided . However, it is not prohibited by the rules to equip small premises with single fire extinguishers.
Primary fire extinguishing means are deemed unsuitable for use and removed from service only by decision of a specially appointed commission.
Action of responsible persons and personnel in case of fire
- Call the fire department.
- Turn on independently or with the help of the person on duty, responsible for the facility, an automatic fire extinguishing installation (if any).
- Ensure that personnel are in safe conditions. If necessary, ensure the evacuation of people.
- Ensure safe conditions for firefighters: inform them of possible risk factors, the presence of gas cylinders and pipes with an explosive mixture, the location of wires with high voltage, etc.
- Carry out all possible operations on equipment and installations: disconnect power, shut off valves on pipes, etc.
- Apply primary fire fighting means.
- Designate an employee responsible for meeting firefighters. He must have information on the location of access roads and water sources.
Accounting for primary fire fighting equipment
Responsible persons must keep records of fire extinguishing media. They are inspected at least once every six months. The results of the check are recorded in a special journal, which contains the columns: name (type of fire extinguishing agent), number, technical condition, date (charge of the fire extinguisher or check) and signature of the person in charge.
Some primary fire extinguishing equipment (fire hydrants and fire extinguishers) must have a passport, which shows the date of the last inspection or charge. All extinguishing media must be numbered and labeled.
If any violations are found that impede the normal operation of fire extinguishing agents, they must be corrected as soon as possible.
