The legislation of the Russian Federation provides for strict control over the activities of any type of media, whether it be radio stations, television or print media (newspapers or magazines), as well as news resources on the Internet.
But in order to conduct business smoothly, all media must be registered with Roskomnadzor and have the appropriate licenses. Regardless of whether registration of print media or broadcasting is necessary, documents and applications must be submitted in a complete and unified package.
It should be remembered that compulsory registration must be subjected to media located in Russia and all the republics that are part of, as well as all settlements, whether it is a region or a region. But in the latter case, an application for registration is submitted to the local branch of Roskomnadzor. If it is required to register foreign media, the procedure for registering media will not change, but it will be necessary to supplement the list with documents confirming the consent of the owners of the publication or their heirs to register.
List of documents to be submitted to registration authorities
To register a media outlet, you will need to provide the following information in writing:
- full name of the media;
- editorial address;
- full information about all founders and the owner;
- frequency of releases and distribution method;
- specialization or subject matter;
- distribution area;
- tongue;
- financing options;
- information on communication with other periodicals;
- extract from the register, presented by each founder and certified by a notary;
- receipt of payment of state duty;
- extract from the share register;
- copies of constituent documents;
- copies of documents about domain availability, hosting, etc.
It is worth noting that the classification of the media is formal, so in many cases the publication may not fall into this category. Nevertheless, obtaining a license opens up new possibilities and allows you to take advantage of a number of advantages. For example, authors and editors receive appropriate status and accreditation, their rights are protected by a special association of journalists. The possibilities for copyright protection in case of illegal use of content are expanding, in particular, it will be possible to apply to the court with a corresponding lawsuit.
