Volgograd is a city with a hectic criminal environment. After the death of the criminal authority and the “gray cardinal of the city” Vladimir Kadin, the distribution of power takes place here, and murders and attempts on the businessmen and entrepreneurs of the city became commonplace.
The situation in the city of Volgograd
In the early 90's, the city of Volgograd was considered a clean zone of influence of "thieves in law". Criminal authorities came to the city many times , but they could not establish control over it.
Reasons for the situation
There are several reasons for this situation in the city:
- Law enforcement agencies opposed to criminal structures.
- A structure of internal control of local authorities was established in the city, which did not want the entry of strangers and obedience to the orders of those who “looked.”
- The authority of thieves in law was limited to the administrations of the colonies (although the situation is currently changing).
That is why the city was able to stay away from the activities of "thieves in law", while such strict isolation helped to avoid full control of criminal authorities over profitable areas.
Local groups of Volgograd do not have a hierarchy and strict structure. They are engaged in monitoring those areas of business and economics that they could make legal, develop ties in politics and sports.
Vladimir Kadin
For a long time V. Kadin was considered the head of the criminal world of the city of Volgograd. This is a former police officer. During the perestroika period, he managed to create a group with his friend and comrade Stanislav Galkin. An associate soon becomes Kadin’s “right hand” at the official place of work, taking the post of deputy chairman of the Boxing Federation of the Volgograd Region.
Their subordinates included former colleagues, security officials and athletes. Later, another member joined the group - Anatoly Rogov (Tolyasik). He quickly earned the trust and became a close friend and confidant of Kadin and Galkin. The group was engaged in the control of markets, car parks, and committed illegal real estate transactions.
Attempts on the "gray cardinal" of the city
In the 90s, Volgograd became interested in the Podolsk criminal group from the Moscow region. The members of the group were famous for their cruel methods and unwillingness to compromise. In the city, "hostilities" unfolded. During this period, five attempts were made on Kadin, but the bullets seemed to fly past the criminal authority of the city.
Criminal showdowns continued, and in 1997 another assassination attempt was made against the head of the group. As stated, the organizers were members of the Chechen group. After this incident, relations between the Volgograd criminal authorities and the Chechens became very complicated.
Over the next few years, Kadin’s authority was strengthened. Not a single serious question was resolved without it.
The nature of the head of the group
According to his inner circle, Vladimir Kadin was an open and kind person. He easily talked with representatives of the media, always willingly answered, did not go beyond the questions posed. He found a common language with politicians, athletes and government officials.
As Vladimir himself said, he received a law degree in absentia in the city of Volgograd. He was engaged in charity and encouraged the development of a sports direction among young people, spoke out against drugs, and helped disabled children. Officially, he served as vice president of the Boxing Federation of the Volgograd Region.
Split in the grouping
In the early 2000s, a conflict occurred in the group, and the trio broke up, and not in a friendly way, but with enemies. The causes of the incident are unknown even to those close to Kadin. Perhaps opinions differed about the future of the city, or the cause was the struggle for leadership.
Attempts on Anatoly Rogov
It was rumored that at first Vladimir Kadin wanted to eliminate Tolyasik. The reason for this was the friend’s desire to make the Volgograd region the center of the drug trade. Tolyasik was actively involved in the development of this industry, and invested the proceeds from the sale of drugs in the construction business. Through contacts with government employees, he received construction contracts. The authority of a former friend of the criminal head of the city quickly grew stronger. He had support both from some members of Moscow groups (Balashikha and Izmailovskaya), and among the workers of the city administration.
Kadin strongly resisted what was happening. At that time several attempts were made on Rogov, but they did not bring any result.
In 2003, law enforcement agencies took up Anatoly Rogov. In his apartment, a machine gun, a gun and a kilogram of heroin were found. The following year, 2004, Rogov was sentenced to nine years in prison.
Galkin's death
After some time, Stanislav Galkin dies in his own house. As reported by the media, on the day of his death, he went in for sports in the courtyard of the house. A car with intruders rode through a fake pass into the cottage. The guards did not pay due attention to his study and missed the unknown. Seeing the owner of the house, they fired an automatic burst at him. For the final completion of the case, several control shots to the head were made. After the crime was committed, the attackers left the territory, and the car was soon discovered near the scene completely burned. The criminals left a weapon in the car, and in order to hide all the evidence, set fire to it. The killers and the customer of the crime were never found. In criminal circles, there were rumors that it could not have done without Vladimir Kadin.
Rogov’s liberation and his revenge plan
After only two years, Tolyasik is released on parole. Temporarily, he decided to settle in the city of Rostov. Resentment of a former best friend grew by leaps and bounds. He wanted to take revenge on Kadin and take his place. There was no other way home. He finds in his environment a man who is well prepared physically. Andrey served in intelligence and accurately shot. He persuades him to commit the murder of the criminal authority of the city of Volgograd. For the murder, the young man should not have received anything, so it was assumed that Tolyasik could offer to share power in case of success.
The calculation was simple. After the death of Kadin, the inconsolable faithful friend planned to return to the city, where he would be accepted as a native. The criminal head always had many enemies, they would not have thought of Rogov. He did not take into account only one thing - the possible failure and death of Andrei.
Kadin's assassination
Andrey thoroughly prepared for business. He tracked the target for several months, studied its schedule, favorite places, habits. He visited the same institutions with him, and waited for the right moment. Security later noted that the guy was already familiar, and they considered him local. Andrei always came in different clothes, with girls or in company.
On the evening of August 18, 2011, Vladimir Kadin decided to visit the Fa Sol restaurant. The local authority was not located on the summer terrace, and two guards were sitting at the next table. That evening, Andrei had already visited this restaurant and sat alone on the side on a bench. Having waited when both security guards were distracted, he simply went up to Kadin and shot at point blank range. Having committed the murder, the offender rushed to run, but the bodyguards were not at a loss and, trying to catch up with the killer, shot him several times after. Andrey was wounded. Realizing that he could not escape from his pursuers, he committed suicide by shooting in the head.
From the biography and connections of the killer, it was quickly possible to calculate the customer of the crime. Anatoly Rogov’s hope of returning was broken, there was no turning back. Volgograd criminal authorities set a reward for the capture of Tolyasik.
Despite the fact that most of the evidence showed that Anatoly Rogov was the customer of the crime, the official culprit has not yet been found, he remains at large.
Change of power in Volgograd
After the death of the "gray cardinal" and the head of the criminal world, the city of Volgograd and its inhabitants stood still. The redistribution of power was to begin. During this period, several assassinations and murders were committed on various businessmen and entrepreneurs.
So, on one of the city streets (Dzerzhinsky district) an attempt was made on a local businessman. An attacker was waiting for him near the house and was able to fire several shots, injuring the young man. He, despite his injuries, got to his car and drove to the police station. After that, bleeding, he was sent to the hospital.
Dzerzhinsky district has become an unlucky place. Here, a little later, the murder of a local businessman and co-founder of companies in the city of Frolovo was committed. In the summer of that year, an attempt was made on the life of the brothers of Azerbaijanis who were engaged in business in the city.
Candidate Ivanov
It was expected that the place of Vladimir Kadin will be taken by a close friend of Yuri Ivanov. Volgograd swept in anticipation. However, he did not have enough respect among the members of the criminal world. His authority was not enough to lead the group. The criminal authorities of Volgograd did not accept him. He could not establish relationships with other groups that claimed to receive a share in power.
The murder of Sergei Brudny
Sergey Brudny was a co-founder of several large markets in the city (Central, Voroshilovsky and Traktorozavodsky). And also, according to some reports, he was the successor of Vladimir Kadin.
In May 2014, a criminal showdown in the city affected a large businessman. Brudny and his friend Evgeny Remezov were shot in the center of the city. After serious injuries, the criminal authorities of Volgograd were taken to the city hospital, but they could not save Brudny.
The murder occurred in the evening near the cafe "Maroussia". Unknowns fired from a homemade rifle from their car, which was located nearby. They managed to find the killers very quickly, after two weeks they were able to detain them. In the capture of criminals , the video recorder of the car of the dead helped. After the identification of the perpetrators of the murder, it was possible to reach the customer of the crime. Yuri Ivanov was among the suspected customers of the crime, but this version was rejected. It turned out to be one of the criminal authorities of the city - Ali. The customer of the murder and his accomplices were soon detained by law enforcement agencies. Alietdin Makhmudov received 17.5 years in prison.
The attempt on Vladimir Potashkin
45-year-old Potashkin is an athlete, European kickboxing champion, entrepreneur, deputy head of the Volgograd Boxing Federation. The attempt on his life occurred in May 2016. An attacker was lying in wait for an entrepreneur near a sports club. Here Vladimir Potashkin was injured in the cheek and neck, after which he was taken to the hospital.
After a complex operation, the businessman soon came to his senses. His chamber was strictly guarded in order to prevent new attempts.
Two months before the incident, a Land Cruiser 200 car was burned, which belonged to the authority of the city. Previously, the owner of the car was Vladimir Kadin.
Activities Potashkin
Vladimir Potashkin was officially the director of dry cleaning. Prior to that, he was the owner of several enterprises engaged in agricultural production. After the death of the "gray cardinal," Potashkin was one of the main contenders for the post of "watching" in the city. Despite this, the entrepreneur himself preferred to engage in legal business.
According to law enforcement agencies, the attempt on the life of Vladimir Potashkin may be due to his desire to claim power in Volgograd. Moreover, as a former athlete, Vladimir adhered to Kadin's policy and was against the spread of drugs in the region.
As the investigation suggests, the criminal authorities of Volgograd could become the goal of one customer.
