Let's talk about the mission of the school. We will consider in detail all aspects of modern education, starting with the basics. We will also try to figure out whether the school currently fulfills all the assigned tasks, and whether it can at a decent level realize its function.
The concept
When we talk about the mission of the school, we mean the goals and objectives that it should achieve. Today, the mission is to give the younger generation the highest quality education that will meet state standards, and will also be at such a level that they appreciate it abroad.
Official definitions
Let's go deep into official concepts. What is a GEF school mission? An example is an extract from the Federal Law on Education, which states that the quality of education is a comprehensive characteristic, expressed in how the learning process and its results meet the standards and requirements, as well as the needs of the person who is being trained. But in the modern world, the quality of education is understood not only as its compliance with any norms and standards. First of all, this concept lays the possibility of an educational institution to function independently. At the same time, both the school as a whole and the work of each individual teacher are considered. Much attention is paid not only to how students learn knowledge, but also to how teachers present them, what is their work efficiency and general indicators.
Structure
The mission of the modern school has a fairly clear structure. It consists of pedagogical goals, which we will discuss below, goals of the first, second and third levels. The structure is a hierarchical system of values, which gives a general idea of the direction of teachers.
The structural division in the school is due to several branches of government. So, at the head is the director, who deals with the main issues related to the fact that the school continues to develop and grow. The director’s responsibilities also include monitoring how the educational process is carried out and at what level.
Educational work
The director must have several deputies. Most often these are deputies for educational, educational and cultural work. Each of them has a clear division of responsibilities. So, the deputy for educational work works with students from large families, with those who have problems communicating with peers and teachers. He controls the general discipline and atmosphere prevailing within the walls of the institution. All questions related to how students spend their free time outside of school also lie on his shoulders. He must make sure that all children, regardless of conditions in their family, develop and study under equal conditions, receive quality knowledge. The Deputy for Academic Affairs deals with issues directly related to training. So, he makes sure that all textbooks and additional materials are available, that all students receive enough attention in the lesson, everyone can realize their potential and ask the teacher those questions that concern them. The responsibilities also include organizing and monitoring additional meetings and consultations at which children could clarify controversial issues and catch up with their peers if they are behind for various reasons.
Educational work
The Deputy for Academic Affairs is trying to maximize the school’s mission in GEF. He carefully captures examples of his accomplishments to create positive statistics. This person is always aware of new changes and amendments to the law on education. In fact, the key task of the school lies precisely on it.
Cultural work
The assistant for cultural work deals with the organization of children's leisure. He organizes various holidays and events dedicated to national events. He also tries to organize leisure for children, arranging matinees, gatherings with teachers. He was entrusted with the questions of how to better equip the assembly hall in the school, how to attract children to performances, how to motivate them to improve and develop their oratory and acting abilities. This person understands that along with the importance of education, special attention should be paid to the cultural development of the student. After all, it may be that a person does not find you in the exact sciences, but is perfectly realized as a talented creative person. At the same time, the school’s policy and mission are reflected in the activities of the deputy for cultural work. So, if a school has a narrowly focused profile, and its activity is aimed exclusively at gaining knowledge, then the work of the mass-entertainer in such a team will be rather difficult. But it must be said that an excess in any direction does not lead to anything good. Of course, the primary mission of the school is to obtain knowledge, but do not forget about the complex development of the individual.
Educational goals
From the topic under discussion, we will smoothly move on to pedagogical goals. This topic is very close to what we just talked about, because the purpose of pedagogy is not only to give the child a quality education. All goals are conditionally divided into three levels. The first level shows the primary goals, namely, the acquisition of professional knowledge by children and the personal development of each student.
The objectives of the second level are more extensive. This includes specialized vocational training, teaching a child management skills, training in the field of economics and law, developing a child in the psychological and pedagogical direction, general cultural development of a person, as well as instilling spiritual and moral values, patriotic education, developing emotional intelligence and will.
The goals of the third level are the ways to achieve the fundamental goals that we talked about above. They consist in increasing the general cultural level and the level of professional knowledge, improving the pedagogical skills of teachers, improving the methodological support of the educational process, increasing the level of organization of educational work, instilling effective communication and communication skills for students, and they are increasingly being attracted to research work.
Classification
Consider mission classifications and school objectives. At the same time, we note that all this should work in conjunction, and the division into separate groups exists only in order to better understand each area of activity.
Varieties:
- personal development;
- development of professional qualities;
- training;
- education;
- scientific and pedagogical activity;
- improving the education system;
- management activities;
- the creation of new methods of education and training;
- active practice;
- psychological preparation.
After analyzing this list, we can conclude that the goals of the school are directly dependent on the fundamental principles on the basis of which it operates.
Junior School
Note that the mission of primary school is much more complex and multifaceted than the goal of secondary and high school. It is the junior school that lays the foundations on the basis of which, at an older age, the child can move forward and learn new disciplines.
Primary school teachers are people who primarily determine how successful a student will be in their future activities. It is they who are called to turn the child into a student. Of course, we should not forget about the role of parents, who also have the function of preparing their children for school. Nevertheless, the teacher of elementary grades works with great responsibility, which is entrusted to him by the basic principles of education.
That is why the requirements that apply to them are somewhat higher. They should be well aware of the basics of what children are taught. But this is not the main sign, since knowledge at this stage is elementary. The main competitive advantage of a primary school teacher is that he must be able to convey information to the child in such a way that he understands it as qualitatively as possible and wants to study the subject further. The last clarification is very important, because many teachers can convey something to their students. But to make the child want to ask you further questions and understand this topic is quite difficult, for this you really need to be a good teacher and psychologist.
What are the requirements of a modern school?
The mission of the school today is very multifaceted. Parents want their children to receive not only quality knowledge, but also learn some skills. For example, when interviewing parents, it was found that they want to see similar skills in their children:
- ability to search for information;
- critically examine the data;
- develop their own opinions and make assessments;
- ability to defend one’s point of view.
After analyzing everything, it can be noted that the values of the school meet all the requirements that parents make. But the problem arises when the school cannot fulfill its tasks at a decent level. Nevertheless, in an ideal version, a modern school is an open and safe environment that shapes a child not only from an educational point of view, but also from a psychological one. Naturally, we will not mention that the main requirement for a modern school is to obtain good knowledge that keeps up to date and will be useful to students in real life.
Socio-cultural aspects
The social nature and social mission of the school is that the child graduate from an educational institution not only with a certain amount of knowledge, but also be psychologically mature. We partially touched on this issue earlier, but did not pay enough attention to it. The cultural mission of the school exists not only to entertain children during their leisure time. First of all, it is aimed at promoting interpersonal communication of children, the formation of their emotional and psychological stability. In this sense, the school performs the most important function of becoming a future person. After all, it is within the walls of the educational institution that a child spends most of his day, which means that he spends the entire period of growing up.
Personality formation
That is why it is very important that the educational institution creates favorable conditions for the formation of personality. Teachers should ensure that the team has healthy competition. Unfortunately, today the situation in Russian schools is not always cloudless. Very often, children conflict quite violently and even violently. All this is actively covered in the media, which causes other problems. So, children, seeing what is happening in other schools, unconsciously conclude for themselves that such behavior is the norm. When a similar situation arises in their life, then if they do not directly participate in the conflict and do not show cruelty, then they consider this situation normal and inactive.

The mission and values of the school should be formed around the student, because only then can she take good care of him. First of all, the emphasis should be placed not on the child learning as much knowledge as possible, but on the fact that he is formed as a healthy and strong personality. If he wants, he will quickly catch up with peers and master new material.
In the opposite situation, when the psychological comfort of the child is impaired, his interest in learning disappears, even if before that he showed good results. Of course, he can continue to study at a decent level, but since he will be disturbed by something, his results will become stable, that is, he will not be able to use his potential to the maximum.
