A good side fishing rod is equipped with a sturdy gatehouse. It needs to be made long enough and springy. The deviation of the detector downward by the weight of the sinker should be 40 degrees relative to the horizon. The location can be both direct and lateral, as you like.
Boat matters
Fishing from a boat with side fishing rods is good because you can observe a bite at a close distance. Another undoubted plus - in the compactness of gear: they easily fit in a backpack. What about the boat?
A vessel with high sides and a large displacement will kill standing fishing. Therefore, the craft should be light, low, not noisy and have devices for anchoring on the bow and stern. As an anchor, you can use stones or cast-iron ingots weighing about 10 kg. It is impossible to overdo it with sinkers, since then it will be very problematic to get them. However, the lack of weight is also bad, because the boat can be carried by the current.

- Before you feed, you need to put the boat and fishing rods, make sure that the current does not blow you.
- The cage should be lowered into the water before fishing.
- After cutting, the actions of the fisherman are the same as during winter fishing. The rod is placed in the boat, and the fishing line is pulled out by hand.
- When pulling out a fishing line, it is best to send it overboard rather than put it in a boat.
- One side fishing rod should be on board as a spare.
