For more than 20 years, the Demikhovsky Machine-Building Plant has been manufacturing motor-car rolling stock. During this time, the company has developed more than two dozen different types of electronic trains. And production totals more than 8000 cars. Start and development

Few people know that the history of DMZ begins back in 1935, when the plant was used to provide the USSR with specialized chemical equipment. At that time, the number of employees of this enterprise was only 100 people, and during its existence, it managed to undergo a huge number of changes and stages of reprofiling.

At the same time, it is worth noting that during the Great Patriotic War the capacities of this plant were also reformatted in order to provide the Soviet Union military forces with various specialized equipment, such as Katyusha, aircraft cylinders, and so on. Already in 1947, the plant began to produce the first peat wagons, that is, the production of railway elements was launched, which subsequently developed more and more.

A new stage in history

In the late 80s of the last century, a complete reprofiling of the production of this enterprise took place. In connection with the introduction of new technology and the development of the operation of 12 and 14-car trains, it was necessary to ensure the most urgent modernization of rolling stock. It should be noted that the Riga Carriage Building Plant, which at that time was the main producer of commuter trains in the USSR, was clearly unable to cope with the emerging demand.

It is for this reason that the Demikhovsky Engineering Plant began its work in this direction. In 2006, the Demikhovsky Machine-Building Plant produced and sold 571 wagons of electronic trains of the ED4M, ED4MK, and ED9M models, while this company sold all kinds of spare parts for more than 40 million rubles. It is worth noting the fact that in 2006 this company made its own development - the model of the ED4MKM train. Subsequently, the first version of such an electric train was certified only in 2008. It was intended for the so-called intermodal transport. Over time, production growth only increased, and in 2007 630 cars of electric trains were already sold, including the updated model ED9MK.

Modern developments

In 2015, after a small crisis, the development of a specialized suburban electronic train model EP2D began. This composition is the successor to the ED4M 500 series. It meets the latest safety requirements established in the countries of the Customs Union, and is intended to provide comfortable passenger traffic in areas where the gauge is 1520 mm and where the electrified direct current has a voltage of 3000 V.

It is worth noting the fact that the new model of the train can work on any lines, regardless of the height of the platforms. At the moment, it is planned to create in the near future a similar model of an electric train of alternating current EP3D, as well as a specialized diesel train.

Scale of production

Special attention should be paid to the impressive production capacities available at the Demikhovsky Engineering Plant. At the moment, the area of ​​the enterprise is 47.2 hectares, on which assembly and welding, mechanical assembly, car assembly, procurement and pressing and many other workshops are located. Thus, the integrated work of several departments allows us to provide the most productive and high-quality work, because the control over the implementation of the technology is carried out even in the process of manufacturing small parts.
