Gleb Grozovsky - a priest, a native of the Leningrad region. Born on March 19, 1979 in the city of Leningrad. The child lived in a decent family. His father, Victor Grozovsky, worked as a director and actor in two theaters: Komissarzhevskaya and Alexandria. Also, Victor moonlighted on television. In 1987, the father of Gleb Grozovsky became a priest.

Gleb Grozovsky grew up an exemplary child. In 2000, he graduated from the University of Physical Education and graduated. He could work as a football coach, but the young man decided to follow in his father's footsteps and in 2005 graduated from Theological Seminary. He was attracted to the priesthood while still at university. Gleb was subdeacon of Metropolitan Vladimir in St. Petersburg from 2000 to 2004.

In 2004, Gleb Grozovsky received the rank of deacon. He began to serve in the Prince Vladimir Cathedral. In 2005, immediately after graduating from the Theological Seminary, he became a priest and was transferred to St. Sophia Cathedral, which is located in Tsarskoye Selo.

Gleb Grozovsky’s career developed quite rapidly. He became a member of the Youth Orthodox Movement, paid attention to orphanages, and carried out activities related to the prevention of diseases such as HIV and AIDS among orphans and children left without the care of legal representatives. He studied with “difficult” children, adapting them to society.

Since 2007, clergyman Gleb Grozovsky began working in children's camps. In 2013, children's groups were exported to Greece twice.

September 20, 2013 is a fateful day for the priest Gleb Grozovsky. It was on this day that a criminal case was opened in which it was said about sexual acts in relation to minors.

Initially, the investigative committee did not bring any charges against Grozovsky. He was only informed that he was a witness in a criminal case.

During the investigation, certain circumstances were gradually clarified. After the conversation of the investigator with one of Grozovsky’s acquaintances, it became clear that the priest was the only suspect.

But the investigation lost sight of the fact that tickets for October 3 were bought from priest Gleb Grozovsky. He was about to fly to Israel. Having learned about the intentions of the investigative committee, Grozovsky urgently changed his tickets and left the country on September 27. In Israel, he was waiting for work with patients with drug addiction and alcoholism.

After the official charge was made, the clergyman hired a lawyer and denied the charges, arguing that he was intentionally framed.

Law enforcement authorities of the Russian Federation clergyman was put on the international wanted list. Also issued a resolution on the absentee arrest of Grozovsky. Later, a decision was made to deprive him of his dignity until the end of investigative measures.

The priest refused to talk about voluntary returning to his homeland, since no one guaranteed him freedom.

Not all people believed that such a respectable priest could commit violent acts against minors. For many, this did not fit in my head. Many petitions were compiled to change Grozovsky’s sentence. Most of the parishioners characterized Gleb as an adequate person, kind and sympathetic.

Grozovsky’s support was manifested not only by the parishioners, but also by the members of the Zenit football team, with whom he worked for quite some time. Throughout the time, the players helped and supported Grozovsky.

What was the investigation based on?

The circumstances of this criminal case are not clear to many. Inducing the clergyman, the investigation relied only on children's testimonies. Three girls claimed that Grozovsky was molesting them while they were in the camp. At the same time, as far as is known, there were no violent actions against children. According to the criminal case, there were several episodes of the priest's harassment. They occurred at different times. An interesting fact is that after providing an alibi for one of the episodes of the criminal case, the investigation changed the year of the crime.

Verdict of justice

14 years in prison

In 2014, Gleb Grozovsky was taken into custody by the Israeli authorities and placed in Shatat prison. This place of isolation of citizens is intended for terrorists and people especially dangerous for society. Here Grozovsky spent more than 2 years.

In September 2016, Gleb Grozovsky was extradited to the Russian Federation, where he was placed in the St. Petersburg pre-trial detention center. Later, the priest was transferred to an isolation ward located in Vyborg.

At the beginning of 2017, the investigation was completed, and Grozovsky was presented with the final charge, according to which he was threatened with 12 to 20 years in prison.

The closed trial began in the summer of 2017. As evidence, the investigation presented a variety of examinations that suggested that the charge could not be false. All petitions of the defendant (over 100) were rejected.

During the court hearings, prayers were held in some churches to protect the former clergyman. Nevertheless, on January 18, 2018, the court issued a disappointing verdict, according to which the priest Grozovsky was declared guilty. The verdict - 14 years in prison and moral damages in the amount of 400 000 rubles to each victim. The convict filed an appeal, which was rejected. The case of the priest Grozovsky did not begin to be reviewed.

Currently, a former clergyman is serving a sentence in a penal colony in the Murmansk region. Around his criminal case there was a public outcry. This information has not passed by television. Many programs were devoted to the topic of Gleb Grozovsky. Unfortunately or fortunately, this did not affect the outcome of the criminal case.
