Moscow Electrical Equipment and Lifts OJSC (MEL), Moscow, is one of the largest electrical enterprises in Russia. Elevators from economy to VIP class, components for them, switchboard equipment, switchgears, control stations and other products are manufactured in its workshops.
History reference
The MEL plant was founded in 1953 as a mechanical unit of the 11th Moskultstroy trust. In January 1955, production facilities were transferred to Glavmosstroy, and in October of the same year, to the Moselectrosantehprom trust. The company specialized in the production of electrical products and blanks, a little later began to manufacture switchboard equipment.
In 1965, the MEL plant expanded the range of products due to electrical, wiring devices, low-voltage, high-voltage and other equipment. At the end of 1971, the company became the lead in the newly created production association MGPO "Mospromelectroconstruction".
The production of elevator equipment, winches and control systems was mastered in 1975. The production of elevators proper was mastered in 2003. Since then, the lineup has been steadily expanding, the quality of products has been improving. Innovative technologies are being actively introduced. Over time, primitive relay technology gave way to microprocessor systems.
Application area
Switchgears and switchboard equipment with voltages from 6 to 35 kV manufactured by MEL OJSC are widely used in electrification of apartment buildings, private housing, industrial buildings, garages and other facilities. New generation elevators are eagerly installed in metropolitan residential and commercial complexes, high-rise offices, and industrial buildings. Products under the MEL brand operate in the Kremlin, the Olympic Village, the Tretyakov Gallery, the Government House, the Bolshoi Theater, the Moscow Art Theater, Moscow State University, and other government, public, and cultural sites.

Elevator manufacturing
MEL produces both finished elevators of various carrying capacities, and elevator equipment, components, control devices. The cabin is assembled from metal shields, equipped with modern drives of its own production frequency, braking catchers, a tensometric weighing device and an adjustable drive for doors.
Frameless elevator cabin, consisting of modules, allows installation in any conditions, whether it is a production site or an elevator shaft. It is possible to install a hinged or rotary command module, which allows for preventive repair and testing of electronic equipment directly in the elevator car. Shaft doors have fire resistance class E30, EI30 or EI60. Products are equipped with a microprocessor-based distributed system "Biryusa" or a control system "ShULM". Sicor Italian winches are installed, an order post with buttons in Braille for the visually impaired.

- Low-voltage: emergency power cabinets, shields for automatic switching, water metering panels, water distribution panels, power management boxes, low-voltage cabinets, distribution devices, apartment shields, electric motor control cabinets, lighting panels and other products.
- Transformer substations of the KTPN and BKTP series.
- For low-rise buildings: lighting panels for advertisements and shop windows, heating control panels, garage panels, apartment-type electricity distribution panels, cottage-type electricity distribution panels, boxes for agricultural farms.
- Elevator equipment: Sicor winches, Macpuarsa winches, Montanari winches, control systems, doors, PUL posts, PKL posts, signs.
MEL OJSC carries out repairs and warranty services for the delivered products.
