One of the most original disciplines in rhythmic gymnastics is ribbon exercises. To achieve results in this sport, it is worth seriously approaching the choice of the specified sports equipment.
What is gymnastic tape?
The ribbon for
rhythmic gymnastics consists of a strip of elastic material and a stick. Satin or viscose is usually used as matter.
Distinguish between training and professional gymnastic ribbons. The former differ in lengths of the order of 3-4 meters and are used as a means for demonstrations, entertainment, and the implementation of choreographic ideas in dance groups. A professional gymnastic ribbon with a stick is used during competitions and can have a length of 4 to 6 meters, which depends on the age of the athlete.

The gymnastic tape can be with a stick of cylindrical or conical shape. A structural element is made from plexiglass, plastic, and other lightweight materials. The stick connects to the tape using a nylon pigtail or carbine.
Pick sticks based on the length of the available tape:
- for 6-meter products, sticks up to 55-60 cm in size are usually chosen;
- for 3-4 meter tapes use sticks up to 50 cm long.
How to colorize the tape?
Since during the performances the use of a projectile that matches the costume according to the general color scheme is encouraged, most athletes prefer to paint ribbons on their own. You can cope with the task using permanent markers or acrylic paints. In order for the gymnastic ribbon to acquire a steady color, it is enough to iron the fabric with an iron. Subsequently, the product can be washed with a small amount of powder.
DIY gymnastic tape
It is far from always wise to spend money on the purchase of a ready-made
sports equipment. If desired, the availability of funds and materials gymnastic tape can be made with your own hands.
The primary concern here is stick preparation. A good basis for the manufacture of the element can serve as a lightweight plastic tube. The edges of one of its endings are rounded off with a file, and the other side is equipped with a metal cap. In the central part of the latter, a hole is made with a diameter of the order of 2-3 mm.
Then use a twig with a diameter of approximately 2 mm and a length of 70-80 mm. Its end is split up to the formation of antennae, which are inserted into the hole in the cap and unbent in opposite directions. At the second end of the twig, a ring is created, to which a turning carbine with a fixed tape is subsequently attached.
As a tape, a piece of elastic material of arbitrary length can be used. If desired, it can be shortened based on personal convenience. It should be understood that the greater the length of the tape, the more developed should be the technique for performing exercises.
