Since 1962, serial production of a 5.6-mm central battle cartridge was launched at the most famous domestic arms factories in Tula and Izhevsk. He had a high initial speed at that time and a very powerful shock action. In those years, two types of cartridge were produced. The first bullet weighing three and a half grams had an incomplete shell reaching only to the middle. Its initial velocity reached yes 1000 m / s. History of creation
The contents of the store already existed, but there was no weapon that would shoot them. And then the Izhevsk gunsmiths developed and put into production a hunting-type carbine "Bars-1" of a store type. The cartridge itself received a universal characterization and began to be designated, as it was done abroad, as 5.6x39.
The very first Bars carbine was intended for hunting various animals. When using the first type of cartridge with an incomplete shell, it was possible to shoot as medium in size as a wolf, roe deer or saiga. But with bullets of the second performance it was possible to hunt animals of a relatively smaller size. At that time, many hunters switched to the Bars carbine.
Characteristics
This weapon has many design features. They were borrowed from the SCS - Simonov self-loading carbine, which was adopted by the Soviet Army. “Bars-1” - a carbine, the price of which was already initially quite high - about nine hundred rubles when equipped with an optical sight - has a rotary longitudinally-sliding bolt and two combat stops in the middle part. There were several modifications: Bars-4-1, launched in production since 1990, the 223rd model, which until 2003 was produced in small batches. And only in January of this year was the first batch of fifty pieces manufactured under .223 Remington cartridges.
The incentive for the emergence of this model was the fact that the caliber 5,6x39 used for the Bars is not considered an international standard. And therefore, to increase the export potential, a trial batch was issued, which initially had some drawbacks. The Bars-4-1 carbine was originally intended for hunting large birds and medium animals. Its trigger mechanism makes it possible to adjust the descent, hook stroke and effort. In the middle of the last century, even the most avid shooters went fishing with the Bars carbine. At that time, there was no analogue to this weapon in domestic industry.
A distinctive characteristic of the Bars-1 rifle was a longitudinally sliding bolt and locking of the barrel channel by turning the handle to its extreme forward position. The cartridge cases of this hunting weapon were removed from the chamber by the ejector. Bars-1 fired quite clearly, and at that time it was considered a real fishing rifle.
However, when at the beginning of the nineties of the twentieth century a new model replaced it - the fourth, which was developed by the designers of the Izhmash plant, at first among the hunters there were obvious discontent with the innovations introduced.
