Short biography of the director
The future director was born on September 15, 1906. Alexander Stein studied at the University of Leningrad at the Faculty of Philology, worked for some time in the newspaper Pravda Vostoka, and a little later in Literary Leningrad.
In the war years, Stein served as an officer in the Baltic Fleet. Alexander was the editor of the October Revolution battleship newspaper, and also served as a correspondent and head of the culture department in the Red Fleet newspaper.
Alexander took up literary activity in 1929 - together with the Tur and Gorev brothers, he wrote his first plays.
The wife of Alexander was Lyudmila Yakovlevna Putievskaya, a movie artist who worked on such projects as The Nightingale, The Bear, etc. In the marriage, the couple had a son, Peter, who followed in his father's footsteps and became a theater director.
Alexander Stein died on October 1993 and was buried at the Vagankovsky cemetery.

After twelve whole days of travel, filled with constant trials, they arrived in a village called Supryadki. Despite the fact that local life was not easy, they nevertheless shared with the guys everything that they themselves had.
It was not easy for Antonina Vasilievna to make friends with children: one of the boys fled to the front, he was returned. Antonina understood the boy very well - she herself wanted to go to the front. From that day, she and Victor became friends, and when she was given the opportunity to return to Leningrad, Antonina did not leave - she could not leave the children.
"Ships storm the bastions"
The premiere of the historical film took place on October 5, 1953. This picture is the second historical and biographical film about Admiral Ushakov. It tells about how France began its wars of conquest, and the Russian and allied forces involved in the liberation of Italy, led Suvorov. It was Ushakov’s operation that helped them win the victory.
"Ocean"
The drama premiered on July 22, 1974. This picture is based on the play of the same name by Alexander Stein. It refers to three classmates from the naval school who met many years later in the Northern Fleet. The fates of the guys were completely different.
One of his old friends became the commander of the cruiser, the rest had serious problems in their personal lives. In connection with these circumstances, they also behave differently, showing not the best sides of character. The picture reveals the value of relations between people and responsibility to each other.
"At the time of captivity"
The premiere of the film-performance took place on June 23, 1980. The film is based on the play of the same name by A. Stein. The play is based on such world-famous works of V. Vishnevsky as “The First Horse”, “Optimistic Tragedy”, as well as “We are from Kronstadt”.

Soviet troops are urgently evacuated from Tallinn, and a battle is unfolding on the approaches to Leningrad. To help the land part, a landing force is landed from the Baltic Fleet ships.
Residents of Leningrad begin to build defensive fortifications. Here the sailor paratrooper from the cruiser "Kirov", Sergei Markov, whose role was played by Andrei Abrikosov, meets his father and sister Varia (she was played by Lidia Smirnova).
Sergei and his friend Petya Yakovlev (his role was played by Peter Aleinikov) began to fight on land. Young people had a lot of difficult trials that not everyone can survive.
In the besieged Leningrad, Sergey’s mother died, and his beloved Galya, who was captured by the Nazis, was mutilated. In a sabotage operation, Petya died.
Russian soldiers continued to fight, no matter what. In the end, in January 1944, they managed to break through the blockade of Leningrad. Having liberated the city, the Baltic Fleet ships headed towards Tallinn.
