Swollen gums, what to do?

Swollen gums deliver a lot of unpleasant moments. Violation of diction, difficulty in chewing, changing the shape of the face - this is a list of the consequences of this ailment. If the gum is swollen, you need to immediately find out the cause and, if possible, take appropriate measures.

One of the causes of the tumor is gingivitis. Sometimes it occurs after a visit to the dentist in the event that a poor-quality treatment of the oral cavity was performed, a filling is not very well placed, which can injure the gum to some extent. Seal integrity may also be impaired and secondary infection is possible near it.

If the gum is swollen, then tooth extraction can also be a possible cause. In the event that a tumor has arisen in a certain place, you should immediately consult a specialist. The process must be stopped immediately so that the inflammation does not spread further.

A problem may arise because the gum is swollen in the area of the wisdom tooth. Then it is necessary to take an x-ray image to determine the direction of its growth.

To alleviate pain, a small incision is made in the gums. A wisdom tooth can also grow at an angle. In this case, inflammation of this area also occurs. In this case, only surgical intervention will help, and one cannot do without removing such a tooth.

If the gum swollen for unknown reasons, then only a dentist can do the examination, because it can be an abscess, pulpitis or periodontitis. However, these reasons may not be there, then the doctor prescribes treatment in the form of a rinse with antibacterial agents. But each patient is individually prescribed treatment.

Some people do not know what to do if the gum is swollen. Many alleviate pain with a folk remedy such as soda solution. This very often helps if there are no serious complications. A salt solution may also be used. A 3 percent solution of hydrogen peroxide in the ratio with water 1: 1 can also eliminate the pain.

In case the gum is swollen and sore, some recipes for decoctions of herbs or solutions that are very simple in their preparation can help.

To begin with, you can try to dilute in a glass of warm water one drop of iodine and baking soda in an amount not exceeding half a teaspoon. If the rinse does not increase the pain, then you can repeat this procedure every fifteen minutes. This solution is very effective because soda is known for its ability to reduce pain, and iodine is a good antiseptic.

Infusion of chamomile, calendula, sage has also proven itself on a very positive side. In a glass, you need to put one tablespoon of each herb.

Then pour it all with boiling water and insist for fifteen minutes. After the set time has elapsed, you need to add cold boiled water, and do this until the temperature of the infusion is equal to room temperature. Rinsing the mouth should be done as often as possible, since calendula and chamomile kill the infection, and sage removes the tumor and stops inflammation.

All these infusions bring a good positive result, and you need to rinse as long as possible, every fifteen minutes.

But the most important rule that you need to remember is by no means to use a warm heating pad or something warming with a swollen gum, since any heat contributes to the appearance of pus, although the pain can temporarily subside.

The causes of gum tumor are various. This can be flux, gingivitis, inflammation of the dental nerve, the appearance of a cyst or a small hole in the tooth, which you may not even notice. But getting food there can lead to such unpleasant consequences as suppuration. Therefore, only a dentist can determine the true cause of the tumor and prescribe appropriate procedures. If you ignore the visit to the doctor and delay the treatment, the consequences can be more serious than you can imagine in this situation.
