Breeds of roosters: description and photo

Breeds of hens and roosters in all their diversity differ in basic characteristics: exterior, size, temperament, productive and decorative qualities. Selection work in this direction has been going on since the time of Ancient Egypt and today has stepped far forward. The best achievements in breeding new breeds are the work of specialists from Eastern countries, the impetus for which was the emergence of the cult of cockfights.

Description of fighting breeds of roosters

Roosters of fighting breed are the oldest among existing breeds. With different sizes (from 500 grams to 7 kg), the bird looks impressive and is characterized by:

  • muscular strong chest;
  • strong long legs;
  • a powerful head on a long neck ;
  • solid solid beak;
  • aggressive character, allowing you to quickly attack the enemy in the struggle for their own life.

Types of roosters in the style of struggle

According to the style of conducting the duel, the breeds of fighting cocks are conventionally divided into 4 types:

  • Direct . When meeting, immediately rushes at the opponent and with a strong blow hits him in the chest or head.

  • Circular . He throws a couple of punches with an opponent, then turns around, begins to “circle” (run in a circle), after which he suddenly pounces on the enemy again, and, not allowing the latter to recover, he runs away again. Thus exhausts the opponent, due to which he often wins.
  • Messenger . It does not run in a circle, but intercepts an opponent in a straight line and immediately hits the back of the head.
  • Thieving . It is very appreciated, as it competently conducts battle tactics: it tries to remove its head from under the blow, goes to the feet, hides under the enemy’s wing, which knocks the latter off the pace. He himself catches the right moment and strikes.

Roosters of different breeds can be fighters from birth and fight, using all tactics. Sometimes it seems that these universal warriors, depending on the style of the opponent, think which one to use in order to win.

A characteristic feature of the fighting breed of roosters is poor plumage, which leads to poor heat retention by the body. Therefore, it is recommended to keep such birds in a heated room. The key to caring for fighting cocks is high protein feed.
