Plot
The vampire Lestat spent a long time in a dream, buried under the thickness of the earth. This was a voluntary exile: for several hundred years he was tired of loneliness and life in darkness. But the unexpected happened - in his crypt he heard sounds that were sweeter than human blood and excited all the strings of his restless black soul. He got out of captivity and set off for the sound. It turned out that these young people were rehearsing in the garage on the pier. It was rock music that attracted Lestat, and he was not slow to appear before the young musicians. Having strengthened himself along the road, he burst into the room like a hurricane and introduced himself to the group. There was no point in hiding their essence - all the same, no one believed in its origin. He managed to win over the guys, and they became one group.
Charming appearance and a good voice made all the youth out of a vampire an idol. His videos were grim, and everyone literally screamed about death. The texts were no less creepy - many saw in them the disclosure of vampire secrets. At a press conference with reporters, he talked about his big idea - a concert in Death Valley in California. With this performance, he wanted to wake all his brothers and make them come out of a long hibernation. When the recordings in the studio and communication with the press were over, he retired in his room with fans who became just a tasty dinner for him.
Jesse is in a dark power control society. For many years, this community has been observing and analyzing the actions of vampires on earth. But they do not have the right to intervene. The girl managed to unravel the hidden messages in the songs of Lestat, and her friend David provided her with some of his things for analysis. Jesse began to read the vampire diaries and learned the whole story of the conversion of a new rock star. One of the most ancient ghouls, Marius, in the winter of 1788, killed him and gave him water to drink. The girl decided to visit a club where bloodsuckers gather, but fell into a trap. Several vampires wanted to taste her blood, but Lestat saved her at the last minute. Jesse asks to make her immortal, but the singer refuses.
She flies to a concert in California and witnesses an incredible sight - hordes of vampires attack the singer, but everyone burns in hellish flame. Singing awakened Akasha herself, an ancient vampire. She takes Lestat and takes him away from this terrible bonfire. Jesse herself falls into a trance and wakes up in her children's bedroom. She learns that her aunt Maaret is akin to Akasha - one of the most powerful vampires. For many years, the truth was hidden from her, but now the whole dark army is going to her house. The whole society of bloodsuckers opposes Akasha - she intended to destroy the world of people and rule with Lestat.
The last couple arrives at the meeting. Akasha orders his companion to kill Jesse, but he simply makes her immortal and, in order to gain strength, drinks the blood of his mistress. However, at the right moment, he does not stop and drinks to the last drop. Other vampires help Lestat kill Akasha, and she crumbles to dust. The vampire who drank the last drop of blood is doomed to death, so Maaret takes on this mission. Lestat and Jesse hold hands and go together into a new life.
The Queen of the Damned movie: actors and roles
The picture includes two stories at once - the vampire Lestat de Lioncourt and Akasha. At the time, Anne Rice wrote two novels about these characters, but the scriptwriters decided to combine them in one film. Not all fans of Vampire Chronicles liked this idea, since both heroes deserved separate adaptations.
Stuart Townsend - Lestat
The Irish actor in The Queen of the Damned played the role of the idol of youth, whose fame overshadowed Elvis himself. Charming Lestat throughout the whole picture was a negative character in order to become a real hero in the final scene. Undoubtedly, the vampire performed by Townsend deserves all praise. For a young actor, it was a real breakthrough in his career.
Akasha - Alia
Among all the actors of the Queen of the Damned, this girl has a truly tragic fate. She died immediately after the filming. The picture was released only six months after her death. How can you not believe in superstition? “Princess R&B,” as she is called in the United States, died in a plane crash that was caused by a pilot. She released only three albums, each of which became platinum. At the time of her death, she was only 22 years old.
Marguerite Moreau - Jesse Reeves
This actress is remembered by Russian viewers on the television series LOST, American Crime History and Anatomy of Passion. The girl has an extensive filmography, but among her works there are no significant roles.
Perhaps, in the Queen of the Damned, her character was the most memorable and ensured the young Marguerite a good start.
