For centuries, a beekeeping product such as propolis has been used in folk medicine. Prescriptions for medicines from it are quite simple, but very effective. Propolis (bee glue) is a resinous substance obtained by certain bees from various plants. This substance is bitter, slightly spicy in taste. It comes in different shades: from golden brown to brown.
How can a person use propolis? The recipes below have been known for hundreds of years, which confirms the value of this substance as a medicine. It has high bactericidal properties, confirmed by official medicine. A particularly strong effect can be obtained using both royal jelly, honey and propolis. Healer recipes recommend the use of such a composition to lower cholesterol, restore damaged tissues, joints and bones.
Trace elements and vitamins (PP, B1, B2, C, provitamin A) contained in propolis are involved in many biochemical processes in our body. The use of propolis preparations allows you to speed up the healing process of patients, strengthen immunity and get a rejuvenating effect. The antioxidant properties of propolis are also known, which are widely used to suppress cancer cells. Its antitoxic and anti-inflammatory properties allow it to be used in diseases such as scarlet fever, tuberculosis, diphtheria.
The most valuable is mild propolis. Prescriptions for doctors recommend using one that was not stored for long in a dark place at a temperature of no more than 25 Β° C. Do not store strong odor near this substance.
For infections of the respiratory tract (frontal sinusitis, sinusitis), inflammation of the middle ear, 3 p. chew propolis per day. Recipes of folk remedies:
- with rheumatism, a thin plate of heated propolis is applied to the sore spot;
- for migraines, 10 g of propolis is poured with 100 ml of medical alcohol (70%) or vodka. The resulting mixture is infused for a week. Shake it daily 3-4 times. Alcohol tincture is taken 1 p. 5 drops per day, one hour before meals, diluted in 50 ml of warm water. Wash it down with tea or milk. After 3 weeks, the number of seizures is reduced. The course is held three times a year.
- with boils, a cake of heated propolis is applied to the inflamed area. Pus will begin to stand out very soon. The procedure is repeated until the end of the inflammatory process. Prevention of furunculosis: drink 10 days for 1 tsp. propolis tinctures.
- with symptoms of gastric or intestinal disorders, propolis is taken in 10 g for 3-4 days. For the treatment of chronic inflammation, you need to take 40-100 g per course.
Using propolis, do not forget that it can cause irritation of the oral mucosa and diarrhea. It is advisable to gradually reduce the consumption of this substance after cure or improvement.
An allergic reaction often occurs to propolis. It is most often manifested in people prone to allergies to beekeeping products, to eczema, urticaria, and bronchial asthma. In case of allergies, itching, burning, weakness, headaches, rash, fever occur. To prevent allergies and side effects, therapy is started with small doses. When it appears, treatment is stopped and antihistamines are taken.
In the pharmacy, anyone can buy the drug "Propolis water extract." It is known that such an extract has stronger antimicrobial properties than alcohol. Propolis on the water has a specific balsamic odor. It is used as an antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal agent. This drug is used in the treatment of colds, sore throats, flu, bowel and stomach diseases. It activates the growth process of normal cells and tissues, metabolism. As a rule, appoint 1 tsp. extract 1-2 r. in a day. It is used for:
- gargling with tonsillitis, tonsillitis, stomatitis;
- instillation into the eyes with conjunctivitis (diluted in 2 p.);
- washing inflamed maxillary sinuses (diluted in 2 r.);
- douching with inflammation of the vagina, cervical erosion (diluted at 10 p.);
- treatment of a cold (diluted in 2 r. and instill a nose 1-2 r. per day).
The extract is diluted only with boiled water.
