Construction History

The arena had four stands, and since the seats for the fans were not individual, as in our time, the stadium could accommodate up to twenty-five thousand fans at a time.
A few decades after construction, the building undergoes reconstruction for the first time, and the number of seats increases to forty thousand, but during major championships even more people were accommodated. Separate sectors for fans and for guests also appeared. Later, the swimming center of the Kuban stadium in Krasnodar was erected nearby.
After the 2018 World Cup, this stadium is waiting for new changes that will completely change the appearance and interior design of the arena. The reconstruction plan has already been officially approved, and a model of the future stadium has appeared. The arrangement of seats was promised to be announced a little later, it has not yet been approved.
So in a couple of years, the Kuban stadium in the city of Krasnodar will become even more convenient for fans of their favorite club.
Nowadays
At the moment, the stadium is the home arena for the football club of the city called “Krasnodar”. He is also among the five largest stadiums in the Russian Federation.
Sometimes it hosts matches of the national team championship. So, in 2004, the first competitions were held between the national teams of Russia and Estonia. This match at the Kuban stadium in Krasnodar took place as part of the qualifying stage of the UEFA World Cup.
A year after that, this arena acted as a home for the Moscow Lokomotiv, which participated in the UEFA Cup.
