People in ancient times have learned how to measure time. A day was counted by the change of night and day, months by the transition of the moon into various phases, years by transitions of the seasons.
Now we all probably already know from childhood
how many days a year. This information is easy to remember. But the question of how many weeks a year is rarely asked. However, this knowledge will also be useful, especially when calculating the number of class hours, when calculating salaries, etc. It is worth noting right away that this issue should be considered only after deciding in advance which calendar will be discussed.
Islamic calendar
Did you know that in the eastern countries the Islamic calendar is most often used. And it differs from what we have adopted. It has 354 days. The latter are calculated from the moment the sun sets, and not from midnight. So how many weeks a year is determined in the East? There are fifty of them (whole). Also, depending on the year, the number of lunar days in it, in addition to the whole 50 weeks, another 3-5 days are determined.
Jewish calendar
It is officially adopted in Israel. Used for official documents, determination of specific memorable dates. All months in it originate at the new moon. So, in this calendar, in a normal year, they count full fifty weeks + 3-5 days (as in Islamic), but in a leap year, fifty-four weeks + 5-7 days.
Gregorian calendar
In Russia, as in almost all European countries, the Gregorian calendar is used. How many weeks a year do we have? The answer is simple: fifty two - fifty three. Of course, this number depends on whether a leap year is or not, as well as on the day of the week on which the first of January fell. On average, you can even deduce such a figure - 52.143 weeks a year. Interestingly, for accounting papers, according to the European calculation system, a new period does not always start from the first week, or maybe from the 52nd or 53rd. This happens when in the 1st week of the year it turns out to be less than four days.
A typical (non-leap) year includes fifty-two weeks and one day. Due to the presence of the latter in each subsequent year, the days of the week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc.) are shifted by 1 day, when compared with the previous one. After a leap, such a shift occurs for two days.
The number of weeks in the school year
Such a consensus of opinion is not observed when the question is raised about how many weeks in a school year. The fact is that the educational institution itself can vary the amount of study and vacation time. For elementary grades, one duration, for seniors - another, for university students - the third. The number of weeks of study is regulated by the Charter of a particular educational institution. As a rule, first-graders study 32-33 weeks a year, the rest of the school grades - from 34 to 36, and in higher education the longest academic year can be 45 weeks. You can find out exactly how many academic weeks you have to study in a year by reading the Charter of a school, college or university. In principle, this document is generally worth exploring.
Yes, however, it is not so important how many weeks in a year you will need to study. After all, the truth is known that we constantly receive knowledge. The main thing is that they be serious, deep and bring us benefit.
