German midfielder Mario Götze

Mario Götze is a German footballer playing for Dortmund Borussia. He is now 24 years old, so he recently left the status of a young talent and a “golden boy”, becoming an adult soccer player. Mario Goetze plays as a playmaker - this is his ideal place on the field, but if necessary he can also play a winger.

Mario Götze was born on June 3, 1992 in the German city of Memmingen. Already at the age of three, he was sent to the football academy at the Ronsberg club, from which at the age of six he was transferred to the academy of the Eintracht club from Hombruck. After three years there, Mario Götze finally ended up in the Dortmund Borussia, which he played for the youth squads for quite some time. In 2010, when he was 18 years old, he signed a professional contract with the club, but began playing in the adult squad even earlier. Already in the 09/10 season, he appeared on the field five times, and in the next season he became a regular base player. For four years in the “Borussia” Mario played 116 matches, scoring 31 goals - it was there that he rose to the level of world talent, which all Germany had hopes for. With Borussia, he won two German Championships and one German Cup, and also reached the Champions League final, where he lost to Bayern, which as a result became his new club.

Going to Bavaria

In the summer of 2013, a sudden transfer of Mario Goetze took place - Bayern paid 37 million euros of compensation for the player without any preliminary negotiations. Therefore, the first news regarding the player’s transition to Bavaria was directly official confirmation. However, in the “Bavaria” the “golden boy” could not find himself under Pep Guardiola, who did not want to use Goetz in any way as the player would be comfortable. And the goal scored in the 2014 World Cup finals and brought the German national team victory in the tournament, even worse impacted on talent. He, as they say, “grabbed a star” and began to relate to his game after the sleeves. As a result, for three years he spent 114 matches for Bayern, scoring 36 goals - it would seem to be good statistics, but it was obvious to everyone that Goetze did not show what was expected of him. The last straw was the arrival of a new coach who does not use the position of a playmaker in principle - then Goetze decided to return to Borussia.

Return to Borussia

Dortmund club paid 22 million euros for its pupil. Goetze has already played 15 matches this season, scoring two goals and giving two assists. His contract with the club is designed until 2020.
