Surely everyone at least once in his life played volleyball. Usually he is played at school in physical education classes. But how often at such a tender age do we clearly delve into the rules of the game? Volleyball, it seems to us, has only two rules: hit the ball with his hands and try not to let it fall to the floor within its territory. In fact, the rules of this game are much more. It is clear that volleyball is a team-type sport, and according to the rules, each team should consist of 6 people plus 6 in reserve. A game is being played on a site having a rectangular shape, 18 meters long and 9 meters wide, which is divided into two halves by a grid. The players of each team pass each other the ball, beating it off with their hands and trying to redirect it through a stretched net so that the opponent could not catch it or made a mistake in their response.
The rules of the game of volleyball are such that a team can receive a point in their game only when they serve, but only if the opponents make a mistake. If the team is mistaken in serving the ball, then it loses the right to the next serve, with which, in fact, the game begins. The right to serve the ball is determined by drawing lots, in which the referee and captains of both teams take part. The one who won gets the right to choose a pitch or a venue. A correctly served ball must necessarily fly over the net and not touch it within certain limits.
Given the rules of volleyball, a team usually loses the right to serve in the following cases:
- the ball touched the net or did not reach it, and also flew under it or outside the bounding antennas and tapes;
- the ball touches a player or a foreign object;
- the ball flew off the court and fell there;
- the feed was executed out of place, with two hands, out of turn, with a throw, from the hand.
Following the rules of the game of volleyball, the ball is allowed to hit the hands no more than three times. Any hit, reception or transmission must be performed with a jerky touch. If a player transfers his hands over the net and touches the ball on the opponentβs side, this is considered a mistake, unless it is blocking. The blocker has no right to touch the ball on the side of the opponent before he directs it to the side of the other team. Blocking feed is prohibited. Touching the ball within the bounding bands can be considered correct, and it remains in the game. However, if the player touched the net, this would be considered a mistake.
There is such a variation of the game as beach volleyball. Its rules are significantly different from the classic. So, for example, a duel is held on a site covered with sand, and the ball has a larger diameter. Unlike the classic, beach volleyball prohibits the replacement of players. That is, if someone is injured as a result of which he cannot continue to play, his team will be counted as a defeat. In addition, players can sit and move around their site absolutely freely. The ball may also be served arbitrarily: by hitting it from above or below, with a forearm or brush, from a place or in a jump. You can hit the ball not only with your hands, but also with other parts of the body. Three players can touch the ball at the same time, but the fourth touch will be counted as a losing point.
If in beach volleyball the game consists of only two parties, each of which is played up to the 21st point, then in the usual one they can be from three to five, and the team that gets the first 15 points will win. If the score is equal, say 14:14, then the game lasts until there is a difference of two points (17:15; 16:14; 18:16, etc.). The main victory is awarded to the team that won two out of three or three out of five. However, there are rules for playing volleyball, both classic and beach, common for all: players must behave appropriately and tactfully with respect to each other and to the opposing team. This should be manifested not only in the process of the game itself, but also after it. If one of the players is found to be unsportsmanlike , they will either receive a warning or be removed from the field. Also, players do not have the right to challenge the decision of judges and make comments to them.
