The attention of the whole world has long been riveted to the situation in Ukraine. The change of power in 2014, which was carried out by force, put the country on the brink of collapse.
Southeastern Ukraine immediately after the coup stated that it did not recognize the self-proclaimed power and accused it of Russophobia and the revival of fascism. The fact that the
acting president Turchinov decided with the help of the army to suppress the performances of his opponents, to which he ranked almost a quarter of the population, does not help resolve the conflict. Thus, no one can say for sure how many regions in Ukraine will remain if the parties do not sit at the negotiating table in the very near future.
United Ukraine
Most politicians agree that in the form in which Ukraine exists today, it simply cannot be united. Cultural, economic, political, and even linguistic, torn apart from within by contradictions. The solution to the problem should be a complete decentralization of power, but is Kiev ready to do this?
Today, Ukraine is considered a strictly unitary state, which includes 24 regions enjoying the same rights and subordinate to the supreme state power. Crimea had extended powers, but the inhabitants of the peninsula in 2014 in a referendum expressed a desire to join the Russian Federation. The Lugansk and Donetsk regions, which have already declared themselves independent republics, are ready to follow the same scenario.
What is Little Russia?
Among residents of the southern and eastern regions of Ukraine, the idea of creating an independent state of Little Russia began to be very popular. Where did this name come from? It turns out that everything is very simple. In the 15th century, the lands of the Galicia-Volyn principality were called so, and from the 16th to the end of the 19th century, the whole of Ukraine in its current borders began to be called Little Russia.
How many regions in Ukraine are ready to secede and create a new state? So far, only Lugansk and Donetsk have been taking active steps in this direction, but others may follow their example in the very near future.

In fact, it depends only on the Kiev authorities how many regions in Ukraine will be in a few months. Decisions should be made in the short term, since the Russian-speaking majority of the eastern regions are not ready to put up further with infringement of their rights.
There are several options for the development of the situation. In the first case, Kiev will continue to pretend that separatists and terrorists are operating in Donetsk, Lugansk and a number of other cities. This will lead to a civil war and the further collapse of Ukraine into warring republics.
The second option is to carry out constitutional reform and change the territorial structure of Ukraine to a federal one. In order to find out how many regions in Ukraine want to receive the status of a republic, it is necessary to hold regional referenda. This approach to the problem will help remove most of the contradictions.
