In the film "Prisoners", the actors played a terrible drama that keeps the audience in suspense from the first minutes until the end of the film. It is better for the faint-hearted not to watch this detective thriller by Denis Villeneuve, although prominent Hollywood actors played in it. So, what is the drama of the film "Captives"?
Short story
The picture was shot in Atlanta, although the film takes place in a small town in Pennsylvania. Two families get together to celebrate Thanksgiving. However, the girls Joy and Anna decide to take a walk without parental demand and soon disappear.
Excited by this event, the fathers - Keller Dover and Franklin Birch - quickly go on the trail of the alleged kidnapper. However, Alex Jones is mentally insane, moreover, he is released, since there is no direct evidence of Jones's guilt.
Dover tries several times to speak with the alleged kidnapper, begging to reveal the girls' location. However, the result cannot be achieved. Then a desperate father abducts Alex and himself turns into a monster, torturing a sick person in an abandoned mansion.
In the final, it turns out that Keller from the very beginning was following the wrong track. The ending of the film is quite unpredictable, and even a little incomplete.
The film "Captives": actors and roles. Hugh Jackman as Keller
Hugh Jackman, one of the highest paid Hollywood actors , was known for many years, only thanks to the X-Men franchise. However, for the past five to seven years, the artist has been trying to establish himself as a diverse performer, agreeing to bold experiments.
First, he played
Jean Valjean in the musical Les Miserables. For the sake of this role, he had to learn to sing. Then Jackman got the role of Blackbeard in the tale "Peng: A Journey to Netland." A shooting experiment in the drama “Prisoners” was also a peculiar experiment.
Actors Hugh Jackman and Terrence Howard in this film appeared in the image of the fathers of the abducted girls. Jackman had to grow a beard and get a shabby look in order to pass for a provincial family man who earned his bread by hard work. When Keller's daughter Dover disappears without a trace, unlike Franklin Birch, he behaves decisively and even desperately. Dover is ready to torture a distraught person, just to find his child. In the end, the truth is revealed to Dover, but because of his indiscretion, he himself becomes a victim of the kidnapper.
"Captives": actors and roles. Terrence Howard as Franklin
Terrence Howard is a little-known American actor who mostly starred in Class B films or in television series. But back in the early 2000s, everything was far from the case. In 1999, Howard became famous thanks to the romantic comedy Schafer. For his work in the drama “Vanity and Movement”, the actor was nominated for the award “Vanity and Movement”.
In 2008, the actor played the role of Colonel James Rhodes in the first part of the Iron Man franchise. However, fame did not benefit Terrence: in Hollywood, he became known as an actor with whom there are too many problems. As a result, serious directors ceased to cooperate with him, and Howard himself migrated from large screens to television soap operas like The Empire.
In the film “Captives”, the actors Howard and Jackman played friends who faced the same grief - they lost their daughters. However, the hero of Howard in this situation chose to sit at home while the perpetrator walked with impunity through the streets of the city. Keller has to literally force Franklin to get to the bottom of the truth and look for a true kidnapper with him.
Jake Gyllenhaal as a detective
Jake Gyllenhaal played the detective in the captive thriller. The actors, as you can see, in the film gathered quite famous.
Detective Loki shares the grief of the fathers and tries to find little girls, but he does not welcome arbitrariness and wants everything to be according to the law. That is why a wall of estrangement arises between him and Keller, because the hero of Hugh Jackman believes that Loki does not catch the criminal at all. Ultimately, it was Detective Loki who saved little Anna and killed the kidnapper in a shootout. And it is from Loki in the final of the picture that the fate of Keller Dover depends.
Jake Gyllenhaal began acting in films at the age of 11, but only in 2001 did he feel the taste of fame when the mystical thriller Donnie Darko appeared on the screens. Then the actor strengthened his position in Hollywood, playing a gay cowboy in "Brokeback Mountain" with Heath Ledger. And, of course, the work of Gyllenhaal in the action movie “Prince of Persia” did not go unnoticed by critics, after which the artist was recognized as a new sex symbol.
