What is volleyball? This is one of the most popular games in the whole world. Translated from English, its name means “flying ball” or “soaring ball”. Volleyball is a team game. Its essence lies in the fact that two teams equal in number of players compete in a special field or area divided by a grid. Players try to direct the ball towards the opponent so that he touches the ground, or the opponent commits a foul. At the same time, during an attack, players are not allowed to make more than three touches of the ball in a row. Volleyball court is a kind of battlefield between players of competing teams. In addition to professionalism and experience, volleyball players must have good jumping ability to be able to jump high above the net, as well as coordination, quick reaction, endurance, high concentration of attention, physical strength for a successful attack hit.
In modern sports, there are several varieties of volleyball: beach, Japanese (mini), park, pioneer ball. Naturally, the volleyball court for each of these games is individual in size, equipment and coverage, but the general characteristics coincide. The volleyball field must have a playing and free zone. It should be rectangular in shape. The width of the free zone around the perimeter of the site is at least three meters. In order for volleyball players to play comfortably, the surface of the court should be flat, horizontal and uniform. Competitions on uneven and slippery surfaces are strictly prohibited. An exception is an open volleyball court, where the slope angle for drainage can be 5 mm per 1 m of area.
The playing field in the hall is painted in bright colors. Marking lines have a white color or other light shade that is different from the floor. The width of the marking is 5 cm. The volleyball court on four sides is limited by two side and two front lines, which are included in the size of the field. The middle line divides the volleyball court into two equal parts. It is held directly under the grid, connecting the side. An attack line limits the front zone on each playing court.
Volleyball equipment for sports fields:
- Grid. It is set above the middle line. The height of the grid depends on what game to be played, female or male. It is measured in the center of the playground. Also, the height should be exactly the same over both side lines. The length of the net depends on the size of the sports fields.
- Antennas These are flexible rods made of durable material, such as fiberglass. They are attached to the side ribbons and are located on both sides of the grid. Usually the antennas are colored with stripes of red and white. They are considered part of the grid.
- Racks. They serve to maintain the mesh. Racks are installed behind the side lines. Their height is adjustable.
- Judicial tower. This is a necessary element of professional volleyball equipment.
- Volleyball. For each kind of volleyball, they are slightly different. The ball for ordinary volleyball and pionerball can be white or multi-colored. It weighs from 260 to 280 grams, its circumference is 65 cm. For beach volleyball, they take more balls, but with less internal pressure. Mini volleyball players use balls weighing 50 grams, with a diameter of 35 cm in deflated form.
