Treatment of a sore throat in a child

Angina is an inflammation of the palatine tonsils, which are located in the pharynx on both sides of the soft palate and tongue. Sometimes the tonsils are very small, so they are almost invisible. Normally, they are pale pink in color, and have an uneven, folded surface.

The causative agents of angina can be various microorganisms. A typical pathogen is streptococcus. Once in the body, it often does not immediately manifest itself. In the event of adverse conditions (hypothermia, overheating, starvation, stress), streptococcus causes the development of the disease.

There is an opinion that tonsillitis is a common cold. But this is not so. Incorrect or untimely treatment of a sore throat in a child after a while can result in serious complications from the heart, kidneys and joints. Angina, as they say, all ages are submissive. Even young children are ill with it. If this happens, parents are only interested in one question: โ€œhow to treat sore throat in young children so that it is safe and effective?โ€

Treatment of angina in a child is a responsible task. If the initial symptoms of the disease occur, you should call the local pediatrician as soon as possible, who will prescribe an effective treatment for angina. The child needs to observe bed rest. Ventilate the room regularly to prevent the buildup of infection.

Feed your baby liquid or semi-liquid foods enriched with vitamins and minerals. Give him twice as much liquid, preferably berry fruit drinks or fruit drinks. Tea with raspberry jam has a good antipyretic effect. If your child does not want to drink drinks, offer plain mineral water without gas. Give him only the medicines prescribed by the doctor.

Treatment of angina in a child, as well as in an adult, is as follows:

  • carrying out general measures aimed at removing the pathogen from the body and alleviating the condition of a sick child (taking antibacterial, antiallergic drugs, drinking regimen)
  • local treatment for pain relief and mechanical removal of microorganisms (gargling with antiseptic solutions, resorption of tablets, aerosol irrigation of the oral cavity and emulsion treatment).

Angina is a contagious disease that requires compliance with sanitary - hygienic and anti-epidemic rules. A sick child should have separate dishes and a towel. Caregivers need to wash their hands often. A patientโ€™s dishes are boiled for a quarter of an hour, and the laundry is washed in a separate container. Near the bed you need to put a pot of potassium permanganate to collect saliva.

Timely, correctly started and completed treatment of tonsillitis in a child is the key to a speedy recovery and a guarantee of the quality of his future life.

Many people suffer from tonsillitis episodically at intervals of several years. Sometimes changes in the tonsils persist, and acute inflammation becomes chronic. With frequent tonsillitis, in order to avoid complications, surgical tonsillectomy is performed - tonsillectomy.

Preventive measures come down to general recommendations: strengthen immunity, avoid hypothermia and overwork, eat regularly and properly. A major role is played by the rehabilitation of foci of chronic infection: timely treatment of carious teeth, the fight against chronic runny nose and enlarged adenoids, treatment of chronic diseases.

To prevent sore throat, from the first months of a child's life, conduct tempering procedures (water, air and sun baths). Older children are recommended to perform local hardening in the form of a gargle with cool water.

If you can not cope with angina on your own, then consult a doctor for qualified help.
