The film "The Black Sea" (audience reviews note the successful cooperation of the UK, Russia and the United States in the production of the picture) is a real adventure thriller. The well-known Scottish director Kevin MacDonald played Jude Law, Grigory Dobrygin and Konstantin Khabensky in his half-tip about the misadventures of the submarine during a Nazi search for gold .
Genre experiments
The genre experiments of the creators can only be bewildering for extremely skeptical viewers, the author's approach to writing the script and the process of filming, changing application levers and points of view usually benefit such adventurous film projects and invariably cause interest. The film “The Black Sea” (audience reviews confirm this) attracts attention, it couldn’t be otherwise: the production of the adventure thriller was taken by Kevin MacDonald, a master of piercing documentaries, interested in history, a true connoisseur of deep human dramas. It became famous after the release of a semi-documentary, chilling heart, dramatic film “Touching the Void”, telling the tragic story of climbers climbing one of the Andes mountain peaks.
Special charm
MacDonald, making the film “The Black Sea” (there is also feedback about “Imkhonet”) was not going to compete with the classic “K-19” Bigelow, “U-571” Mostow, “Submarine” Peterson and even domestic “72 meters” , although he had a trump card in his sleeve. His creation does not tell about a bloody battle with the enemy, about an underwater duel or the tragic history of submariners. The director managed to make characters who were far from war the real heroes - retired retired sailors led by a completely peaceful captain, an overseer (assigned to watch the sailors) and a boy who set off for the first time on the open sea. This motley company has a special charm, they are far from subordination and strict military discipline, they think, speak and act differently, and not always professionally. The film "Black Sea" reviews of moviegoers are fundamentally called adventure. Spectators are impressed by the fact that Robinson’s team is very similar to adventurers, and not a boring and disciplined detachment of soldiers.

Plot
Captain Robinson, who devoted his whole life to the submarine fleet, is out of work. The company experienced a reduction, and Robinson was left without a job that stole his family. The old sailor is left alone and sees nothing good ahead. Hope comes to life when a mysterious investor hires the protagonist for the position of captain of a submarine to search for the once sunken submarine with gold on board. The team includes the most notorious villains - the searches will have to be carried out secretly next to the Russian Black Sea Fleet, but the reward for a successful operation will be huge. The enterprise is doomed to success, because Robinson has great experience as a captain, and his sailors are also not the first time to board a ship. But only when they are at the bottom of the sea, the team members realize that this adventure will not work out dry. This is the plot of the movie "Black Sea", the trailer of the picture, like this description, does not contain spoilers.

Plus McDonald Stories
In order to fully experience the drama of what is happening in the frame and to feel the complexity of the situation, the actors first starred on board a real submarine for two weeks, after which the entire crew moved to a specially constructed pool (in the pavilion). The film "Black Sea" (reviews of domestic viewers mark three shots taken in Sevastopol) is unique in that 90% of the plot action takes place in a claustrophobic crushing space of a submarine. Another advantage of the McDonald painting is the competent construction of intrigue and plot development - the presence of constant exciting, though sometimes not completely understood, conflicts. The confrontations of the heroes are simple and accessible, in the actions and actions of the characters there is absolutely nothing heroic, only a thirst for profit and an avaricious calculation. Sometimes the "bitter truth" is too straightforward, but in general the action is quite voluminous and lively.
Natural "Russianness"
The film “The Black Sea” is positioned as a dangerous treasure trip, which soon turns into madness and massacre, and the celebrity, Jude Law, flashes in the frame more often than other actors. But one cannot but note the trump card that the director took advantage of - these are Russian actors. This does not in the least diminish the merits of Jude Law, who in the past was Karenin and Zaitsev. The “Black Sea” is a unique case when in the Western picture Russians are not assigned a stereotype, but a natural “Russianness” is shown, which is painfully native and easily recognizable. Kolesnikov and Veksler, Khabensky, Dobrygin and Puskepalis set the tone for the film, made it "ours" for real, completely removed the slurred English. And this is not just patriotism, the author is still MacDanald, but his ability to choose our actors adds honor to him. Sergei Puskepalis once served in the navy, and Dobrygin's father was a submariner. These actors helped MacDonald work out the scenery and details of the situations in the film.

There is something to complain about
The review of one of the famous film critics called the film "Black Sea" not gloomy, but rather fascinating. And sometimes - exceptionally lively. However, there is something to complain about. The story that was the basis of the script is very implausible. The Nazis are far- fetched, adrenaline is not enough, the constant mention of the Black Sea Fleet causes a condescending smile, some episodes and twists and turns of the storyline look somewhat predictable. The film “The Black Sea” (the viewers' opinion is unambiguous) is not worth comparing with the same “Rage”, although it also sensibly and convincingly squeezes the iron leviathan who is looking in the cramped interior. The heart is unlikely to bounce, the audience will not bite its nails into the chair from tension, but the hidden treacherous trepidation will be present inside. The sea in the cinema is really black, but rather because the hearts, souls and thoughts of the sailors plunged into it are black.
