Humor, a dynamic plot, a beautiful love story - the comedy “Freaks” filmed by Levan Gabriadze has all these advantages. Actors are one of the main achievements of the picture. Here you can see both stars and adolescents, who first appeared on the big screen, but impressive in their naturalness. So, what is known about this wonderful work of domestic cinema, who played the main roles?
A few words about the plot
“Freaks” - a film that begins with the arrival in the capital of a school teacher from a small town with the amazing name Fingers. The teacher is played by Konstantin Khabensky. Glory Kolotilov dreams of the fate of the best-selling author, trying to attach his first novel to one of Moscow publishing houses. Of course, the poor thing does not work, and he is forced to return to his homeland.

Suddenly fate intervenes in the life of Glory. The beauty Nadia, whose role was given to the Hollywood star Milla Jovovich, is going to marry her fiance Dania. On the way to the registry office, she unexpectedly knocks down Kolotilov, returning from the publishing house in frustrated feelings. Passion flares up between young people, Nadia forgets about Dan, with whom she had a difficult relationship. The novel is developing so rapidly that the lovers decide to get married. Fame just needs to go to Fingers, quit his job and have time to return to Moscow on the day of his wedding. However, breaking out of his hometown is very difficult.
Main character
Konstantin Khabensky, which the audience first learned about thanks to the TV series “Deadly Force”, where he played Plakhov, is, of course, the main achievement of the comedy “Freaks”. Actors, without exception, cope with their roles, but he got the most interesting image. It’s enough for a school teacher Slava to put a frying pan over his head to become completely like a “scattered man” from a famous poem. Thanks to the film, the audience can once again be convinced of how talented Khabensky is able to play both the courageous admiral, the incorruptible operative, and the inept teacher.

Loving Kolotilov is ready to change his life for the sake of his beloved, therefore he flies to Fingers to get rid of his duties and reunite with Nadia as soon as possible. However, the mayor unexpectedly decides that Slava is an ideal candidate for the position of coach of a children's football team. So that Kolotilov does not run away to the capital, Trekhgolovich seizes his passport. Inspired by love, fame finds a creative solution to its problem. He is recruiting a team of homeless children who have never played football, in the hope of losing them soon. However, the children are in no hurry to please their "coach."
Milla Jovovich as Nadia
Initially, the Hollywood star was not supposed to take part in the filming of the comedy, the plot of which was concentrated on Kolotilov and his football team. However, Timur Bekmambetov, who acted as the producer of the tape, had long dreamed of working with such a talented girl as Milla Jovovich. Upon learning that the actress, known for her roles in Resident Evil, The Fifth Element, had a “window” in the filming schedule, the producer immediately invited her to Moscow.
Fans of Jovovich know that her mother Galina Loginova, who also starred in Vykrutasy, is Russian by birth. Comedy is worth seeing already in order to listen to how funny Nadia speaks in our language. Her heroine remains to wait for Kolotilov in Moscow, is preparing for the wedding and fights off the courtship of the former groom, who is trying to return her. By the way, Milla even manages to demonstrate several tricks in the style of "Resident Evil" to the audience.
Other actors
Khabensky and Jovovich are far from the only stars participating in the filming of the comedy “Freaks”. Actors who play other roles are also known to the public. For example, hardly anyone will be able to recognize the rejected bridegroom Nadia Danu - a cunning, prudent businessman, who is the exact opposite of Glory. The role of the hero-lover has become a kind of calling card for such an actor as Ivan Urgant, but this time the image is seasoned with a share of cynicism and arrogance.
Expectedly good, Vladimir Menshov in the role of the mighty mayor of Trekhgolovich, preventing the hero of Konstantin Khabensky from reuniting with his lover. Children football players, the leader of which is played by young debutant Savva Gusev, did not disappoint.
Spectators who are looking for a tape to enhance their mood should definitely opt for the comedy “Freaks”. Actors play great, laughter causes almost every new frame.
