With visual impairment, a person begins to experience discomfort. If such symptoms are accompanied by colored circles (if you look at a bright light), "flies", headaches in the eye or temple, then you should contact an ophthalmologist before it's too late. Sometimes there is redness in the eye area, the eyeball is hard to touch like glass, it hurts to touch it. All of the symptoms described may indicate increased eye pressure. And this is quite likely to lead to irreversible loss of vision and the development of glaucoma. And then it will be impossible to fix anything. But the worst thing is when the disease originates and is asymptomatic. In such cases, important points can be missed and then only slow down the progress of the irreversible process.
When dealing with such symptoms, the doctor will conduct a series of studies to determine whether the pathogenic processes in the eyeball cause pain or whether it lies elsewhere. To do this, he will measure eye pressure, which normally should be 9 -22 mm RT. Art. (otherwise the eye will not be rounded). In individual cases, it can rise up to 26 mm, but still the figure 27 and above should alert your doctor. He will conduct a visual diagnosis, a series of tests for the quality of vision.
In the eyeball, there is a constant circulation of fluid (2 ml / min enters and leaves). If the outflow is at least partially disturbed, moisture accumulates, increasing intraocular pressure, it increases, capillaries are squeezed, and this further worsens the outflow. Pinching of the optic nerve gradually occurs , its atrophy, partial and at the end - complete, that is, incorrigible blindness. Therefore, it is so important to timely diagnose an increase in intraocular pressure.
The development of glaucoma is affected by heredity, so it is worth checking the health of the eyes at least once a year up to 40 years. And due to the fact that lifestyle (smoking, immobility, etc.) and chronic diseases (obesity, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, etc.) also influence - after 40 years, every six months you need to check your eyesight with an ophthalmologist.
But do not worry if you have identified increased eye pressure. Timely treatment stops the disease at the very initial stage and keeps it under control for life.
Depending on the severity of the identified stage, the prescribed treatment may vary. The first thing that the doctor will care about is how to lower eye pressure to slow down the pathological process, then how to eliminate the root cause of this, and then how to remove the consequences of the disease.
Usually, when the diagnosis of "eye pressure" is made, the treatment consists of drugs that lower the pressure - drops, lotions. Sometimes they need to be applied for the rest of your life. In happy cases, vision stabilizes over time, and the need to bury eyes disappears.
Additionally, diuretics and medications may be prescribed to improve cerebral blood flow. Together with diuretics, potassium preparations must be taken to compensate for its loss in urine. Of the drastic measures, most likely, a laser operation is ahead in order to restore normal fluid outflow. Additionally, the doctor will recommend small physical activities, regular exercises with special exercises for the eyes, and prescribe a vitamin complex.
If you are struggling with a problem such as eye pressure, the treatment prescribed by the doctor can be supplemented (but not replaced by professional treatment!) And alternative methods. When eye pressure is detected, folk remedies can be selected different: compresses, decoctions, depending on the severity and associated diseases. It is important to perform everything regularly, to conduct all hygienic procedures with the eyes, and not to forget about the medication prescribed by the doctor.
