Camphor alcohol is a locally irritating medical preparation prepared on the basis of alcohol and camphor.
Camphor is obtained from camphor laurel, camphor basil, some types of wormwood, Siberian fir.
The substance, which is almost water-insoluble crystals, is part of the essential oils, tones the breath, enhances the work of the sympathetic nerves.
Camphor helps to remove toxins from the body, get rid of chronic pneumonia, cures erysipelas. With this substance, otitis media, sinusitis, colds and intestinal disorders can be treated.
The properties of a pure substance are completely preserved by camphor alcohol obtained on its basis. Its use in medicine - classical and alternative, cosmetology, aromatherapy, homeopathy helps to get rid of many health problems.
For treatment, for example, otitis media, take 2% camphor alcohol. Using it as a compress helps relieve pain, resolves swelling, produces a warming effect, and inflammation is more quickly removed.
Alcohol is diluted in half with water, slightly heated, moistened with the resulting gauze. Previously, a gauze hole is made in the gauze. The gauze moistened with the composition is placed around the ear, on top is covered with compress paper (also with a hole in the middle), cotton wool. The bandage is fixed with a bandage or scarf, making sure that the ear is open, and alcohol does not get into it. A camphor compress is kept on the ear for about two hours. In order not to cause a burn, before the procedure, the parotid space can be lubricated with baby cream or petroleum jelly.
If the doctor prescribed camphor baths, then you need to lie on your side so that the sore ear is on top. It should be instilled with alcohol heated to 36 °, about 6 drops. Then, for 20 minutes, you should remain in the original position, after which you can sit down, having previously put a cotton wool in the ear canal that does not allow the alcohol to flow out. After such baths, it is very important to protect the ear from cold or drafts.
Camphor alcohol is popular not only in medicine. Its use in cosmetology is also widespread. On its basis, you can prepare many products to help cleanse the skin.
Here is one recipe for camphor soap, which is easy to make at home. In its action, it can easily be compared with expensive tonics or face foams.
To prepare it, you need half of the children's soap, grated on a fine grater, half a spoonful of glycerin, ammonia and camphor alcohol, a quarter spoonful of peroxide and citric acid, dry chamomile.
An infusion is prepared from a spoon of chamomile and a glass of boiling water, after which half an hour is added to the grated soap, and then left until it becomes soft. After that, the resulting mixture is put in a pot of boiling water, stirred until a homogeneous mass, gradually mixing the remaining ingredients. The last thing added is peroxide. Washing with such a soap will rid the skin of acne and impurities, improve its turgor, and smooth wrinkles.
For the preparation of acne lotion at home, camphor alcohol is also suitable. Using it for such purposes can lead to dehydration or inflammation of the skin, therefore, before starting the procedure, consult a cosmetologist.
It is recommended to mix camphor, salicylic, boric and chloramphenicol alcohol, peppermint in equal proportions. With the resulting composition, wipe the face in the morning and evening for 10 days. Rest for a week, repeat rubbing again.
When using camphor alcohol, remember that it can cause burns, allergies, lower blood pressure, or cause agitation. Therefore, it is better not to use it without expert advice.
