In childhood, Vladlen Davydov did not miss a single performance of the Moscow Art Theater, admired the talent of artists. In adulthood, he began to shine on his stage. Fans of Soviet cinema, this actor fell in love with the role of K. K. Rokossovsky in the epic "Liberation".
The beginning of the way
Vladlen Davydov (photos of the artist are attached as illustrations to the article) is a native Muscovite. He was born on January 16, 1924. The theater firmly entered his life as a child. Vladlen did not miss a single premiere of the Moscow Art Theater, was an ardent fan of the artists. Each time he fell in love with the images that came to life on the stage before his eyes.
Once a boy published an article in Pioneer Truth. She was dedicated to his favorite performance "Plato Krechet". Davydov admired the talent of the artist Dobronravov. This man managed to reveal the features of a real intellectual in the image of the genius surgeon Plato Krechet. Vladlen also sent a letter to the production director Ilya Sudakov. The master not only read it, but was not too lazy to write the child an answer. Many years later, this letter was found in the archives of the Moscow Art Theater Museum along with a copy of the response message.
Education
In childhood, Vladlen Davydov imagined how he plays on the stage of the Moscow Art Theater along with Dobronravov, Kachalov, Moskvin and other famous actors. No one was surprised that after school he went to enter the Moscow Art Theater School.
The secrets of the profession Davydov comprehended under the leadership of I. M. Raevsky. The course at which the young man studied was experimental. Actors were brought up in close proximity to the theater, traditions were passed on to them. Students were often visited by V.I. Kachalov and read poetry to them. In 1947, Vladlen received a diploma.
Theatre
Vladlen Davydov's dream came true in 1948. He got a role in the production of the Moscow Art Theater “Twelve Months”. In the play based on the tale of S. Ya. Marshak, he was supposed to play April, and he coped with this task perfectly. The entire creative biography of Vladlen Semenovich was associated with this theater. On the stage of the Moscow Art Theater, he performed dozens of roles in the modern and classical repertoire. Davydov was involved in the following productions:
- "Second love."
- "Dombey and son."
- "Ideal husband".
- "Dollhouse".
- "At the bottom".
- The Brothers Karamazov.
- "Days of the Turbins."
- "Three sisters".
- "Gull".
- "Enemies."
- "Steelworkers."
- "Summer residents".
- Amadeus.
- "Uncle Ivan".
- "Ivanov."
After the split of his native theater, actor Vladlen Davydov began to play on the stage of the Moscow Art Theater named after A.P. Chekhov. Since 1986, he served as director of the Moscow Art Theater Museum. Vladlen Semenovich refused this post in 2001.
Failed role
Vladlen Davydov succeeded not only on the stage, but also on the set. From the biography of the actor it is known that for the first time he was offered a role in 1944. The young man, along with fellow students, worked in the farm of the theater in Pestovo. There he met Nikolai Bogolyubov, who recommended a young colleague to go through a casting at the Mosfilm studio.
Vladlen was offered to play Neznamov in the film Guilty Without Guilt. At first, the young man agreed, but soon had to give up work because of a conflict with the leadership of the Moscow Art Theater School. He considered that the possibility of continuing education is more important than the role.
Bright debut
As a result, Davydov made his debut in the film "Meeting on the Elbe" in 1949. The picture tells about the famous meeting of Soviet and American troops. It took place in the last days of World War II on the banks of the Elbe.
In this film, Vladlen Semenovich played the courageous and brave Major Kuzmin. The hero was simple, resourceful in difficult situations, charming. He embodied a peculiar ideal image of a Soviet officer, a soldier who liberated Europe from fascism. A year later, the artist was awarded the Stalin Prize for this role. The filming process was remembered by Davydov for life. He loved to talk about how in 1948 he arrived in the ruined Koenigsberg. Many city buildings were without windows, without roofs. When the moonlight fell on these houses, they resembled skulls with empty eye sockets ...
Trip to Paris
Next, Vladlen Davydov starred in the musical comedy "Kuban Cossacks." After that, he joined the delegation, which was supposed to present Soviet cinema in Paris. Vladlen Semenovich attracted the attention of the French actress Nicole Courcelles. A woman invited him to show the city.
The journey of the actors was harmless, but the press inflated a full-fledged scandal from this. The local edition of the Paris Match published their joint photo. Under the picture was the inscription "Soviet Don Juan in Paris." Davydov received a reprimand from the Minister of Culture, as well as a ban on traveling abroad for five whole years.
The management of the theater was also engaged in its re-education. In the Moscow Art Theater, actors were struggling with star sickness very simply - they were assigned small roles. Say, in the play Sunday, Vladlen was forced to embody the image of a footman serving the Countess of Charska. His character did not have words, he only had to take out a business card on a tray. The actor had a lot of fans who giggled or clapped each time he appeared. The performance was on the verge of collapse several times. The actors involved in the production complained about this. One day, one of the actresses invited the director to choose between her and Vladlen. As a result, Davydov was removed from the role - to his great pleasure.
50-60s movies
Films with Vladlen Davydov were not released as often as his fans would like. The actor was devoted to the theater, and the theater reciprocated. But Vladlen Semenovich liked to compare cinema with a young and beautiful, but windy and prone to treason mistress. From time to time, he still starred.
In the film “Outpost in the Mountains”, Davydov embodied the image of senior lieutenant Lunin, who comes to serve at the border post and is actively involved in her life. He has to fight with the dangerous gang of Ismail-bey, which is located on the other side of the border.
Another of his spectacular work on the screen is the role of the decadent poet Bessonov in the film “Sisters”. From his exquisite hero, he breathes coldness and arrogance. It is also worth noting the role of Edmund Kendle in the film "Now Let It Go."
Epic "Liberation"
Vladlen Davydov starred in the large-scale historical epic "Liberation" by Yuri Ozerov. It consists of five paintings, the actor starred in only four of them. The Arc of Fire, the first part, tells about the famous battle on the Kursk Bulge, which took place in the summer of 1943. Breakthrough, the second film, is dedicated to the battle for the Dnieper.
In the third part, “The direction of the main strike,” Operation Bagration is considered. She allowed to completely cleanse Belarus from enemy troops. The fourth film, The Battle of Berlin, talks about the last months of the war. It was then that the fate of Europe, enslaved by the Nazis, was decided.
Vladlen played in these Rokossovsky films. He tried to create a dramatic and heroic image at the same time. Davydov once again demonstrated a wide range of his acting capabilities.
What else to see
In the 80-90s, the actor almost did not act in films, he played mainly in episodes. Several vivid roles he had in the new century. For example, in the series “The Secret of Palace Coups”, he played Dmitry Golitsyn. His character can be seen in three parts.
A small role went to the actor in the film "Burnt by the Sun 2: Citadel." He played Vsevolod Konstantinovich.

He had a hobby that more closely resembled the professional work of a theater historian. Throughout his life, the actor collected the archive. He meticulously recorded the events taking place within the walls of the Moscow Art Theater.
Vladlen Semenovich compiled a whole collection dedicated to his beloved artist B. G. Dobronravov. He also became one of the compilers of the book, which tells about the life and work of the remarkable actor E. A. Evstigneev. Articles by V. Davydov are present in the jubilee two-volume "Moscow Art Theater. 100 years." There are texts of the actor in collections of memoirs about I. Smoktunovsky and V. Livanov.
