Description and characteristic of Ivan Tsarevich from the tale "The Frog Princess"

After reading a fairy tale about the omnipotent Frog Princess, the children receive a task: to write an essay on the theme “Characteristics of Ivan the Tsarevich”. In order to cope with this task, you need to remember what this wonderful story is about.

How it all started

Traditionally for Russian folklore, the tale begins with the saying "In a certain kingdom ...".

The reader immediately plunges headlong into the life of a powerful sovereign. The ruler has three adult sons. He is already quite old and gives them the task of finding wives. Yes, not just to find, but to shoot arrows for this and try your luck. Where the arrow finds a narrowed one, that one must be married. The characterization of Ivan Tsarevich from the tale “The Frog Princess” will include the moment when his future wife is ... a frog. Undoubtedly, he was taken aback and did not know what to do. After all, other brothers got worthy girls! The young man finds himself in a difficult situation.

Attitude towards parents

The characteristic of Ivan Tsarevich includes features typical for that time. He is obedient, does not contradict his father. After the father insists on his marriage to a frog, he agrees. Despite the absurdity of his position, he did not dare to go against the opinion of the parent.

The elder brothers laugh at Ivan, make fun of the fact that he will have to marry such an unusual wife. Undoubtedly, he is ashamed of his position, since he has a rather high status - the son of the sovereign himself. Forced to marry a frog, our Ivan Tsarevich “hung his head”. The characterization of the hero as a whole is positive, he turned out to be strong in spirit.

First test

No sooner had they taken to enjoy the newly minted family life, as their father came up with a new task. He decides to check what the imperial daughter-in-law is capable of. The first thing that interests the king-father is how the wives of the sons know how to bake bread. This product in Russia was considered the most important thing on the table, and every girl should have known how to do this from childhood. The eldest sons bowed with honor and went to inform the wives about the test of the father. The characterization of Ivan Tsarevich from the tale “The Frog Princess” should be supplemented by the fact that he did not find a place for himself from grief. The youngest son knew that he would again be dishonored before the brothers.

Could he have expected his wife to calm him down and put him to bed, and she herself would begin to work miracles! She turned into a beautiful girl, Vasilisa the Wise. A loaf was set up, so hard to imagine. The dough is white, soft, and it is decorated with swans.

The next morning our Ivanushka woke up and could not believe that his frog had baked such wonderful bread. He was delighted, took the dish and carried it to his father. The king began to accept the work of daughter-in-law. The elder burned a loaf, his sovereign ordered only to eat in great famine. The middle oblique and the curve came out. Father would give such bread only to dogs. And as he saw Ivan's loaf, he said that he was only served on the festive table.

The characterization of Ivan Tsarevich is changing: now he is not sad, but he feels himself a winner in front of his brothers.

Second test

But the king-father does not calm down on this. He asks to show how his daughter-in-law weaved carpets. And again, the youngest son in sorrow. The characterization of Ivan Tsarevich will be supplemented by a new fact: he is incredulous about his wife, who already once rescued him. And again, the frog reassures her husband, puts him to bed and weaves a wonderful carpet. The elder sister-in-law called for help from servants, because they realized that they themselves could not cope with this task. And again, the father takes the job. The older one has such a carpet that it will do just fine for horses. At the middle, it’s only good to lay in front of the gate. And again Ivan distinguished himself: his wife did a better job. The king is pleased and orders this carpet to be laid on holidays.

Third test

After testing the skills of the daughter-in-law, the sovereign invents the last test. He calls all his sons and wives to a feast, to see how they behave. Now Ivan understands that shame cannot be avoided. Instead of having a beautiful girl, you have to bring a frog with you. Brothers will definitely make him laugh. He was saddened more than before. But a wonderful frog and here puts her husband to sleep, reassuring.

The next day, arriving at the feast, the guests are shocked. Instead of laughing at his younger brother, they are unable to utter words. Before them is the Princess herself - the Frog!

The characterization of Ivan Tsarevich will include the fact that he is an impatient person. While his wife is dancing in front of the king-father, he finds her frog skin and burns. Now he is sure: next to him will be a beautiful wife, he will finally heal like all normal people, and his brothers will stop joking with him.

How wrong he was! It turns out that not everything is so simple: the girl was bewitched by Koschey, turning into a frog. He should have waited three days for him, and the fatal curse would have ended. But, without asking a word from Vasilisa the Wise, he is in a hurry and makes a mistake. The princess turned into a swan and flew away, saying that he was looking for her.

Fatal mistake

After that terrible night, our hero decides to go in search of his wife. The characterization of Ivan Tsarevich from a fairy tale is complemented by a new feature - determination. He was not afraid of difficulties, went to distant lands to find his beauty.

On the way he meets an old man. After listening to Ivanushka, he rebukes him for impatience and tells a story. It turns out that Vasilisa is the daughter of Koshchei himself. She was a very smart girl and rather cunning. The father got angry at her and ordered him to be a frog for three whole years. And just at that moment when the test was drawing to a close, Ivan threw her skin away.

The old man decides to help the guy and gives him a magic ball, which should lead him to his wife.

On the way, the hero met animals. The first was a bear. Ivan really wanted to eat, but he could not kill the beast who was praying for mercy. This speaks of such a quality as mercy.

Then he met a drake, in which he almost shot an arrow, but again regretted it. He also acted with a hare and a pike, whom he met.

Happy ending

Having come to Koscheevo’s kingdom, the tsar’s son is wondering what to do. He can save his wife only by killing her father. And the death of Koshchei is stored in an egg, on a tall tree. And then all the animals saved by him come to the aid of the guy.

Now, readers have learned who Ivan the Tsarevich is (characteristic). The princess is saved. The king’s son, having gone through many trials, was thanked by fate. Next to him is a beautiful clever wife. The brothers saw how wrong they were when they laughed at the poor frog.

Ivan showed himself from a very good side. He is brave, courageous, obedient. Typical goodie from Russian folk tales.
