The film “Thor: Ragnarok” (2017) actors, which are already known and familiar to everyone, was released on October 10, 2017 in the world. The Russian audience managed to see the premiere on November 2 in the cinemas of the country. What this film is about will be discussed in the article.
About the film
Recently in the world cinemas the premiere of the long-awaited action with famous actors - the film "Thor: Ragnarok". The date 2017-10-10 became for many fans of the cinema something special
The age rating of the picture is 16+, so do not be surprised at the abundance of comic book characters in one tape, as well as a colorful picture with sauce of various types of humor.
The picture received many positive reviews from fans of MARVEL, and also provoked the appearance on the Internet of all kinds of jokes about Thor, the Hulk and other characters of the new creation.
Famous actors and roles
In the movie Thor: Ragnarok (2017), Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston invariably go hand in hand as befits two brothers in the story. All the same bravado of Thor and treachery of Loki. Unlike other Thor soloists, here two relatives have to help each other in order to confront the invaders of Asgard together.
It is impossible not to mention the amazing acting game Cate Blanchett, who played the role of Hel, the Goddess of Death. Great costume, charisma and a beautifully played role. It should be said that this is a worthy “evolution” of the actress from Lady Galadriel in the Lord of the Rings trilogy to the indestructible lady of the dead in the movie Thor: Ragnarok (2017).
Actors continue to amaze from episode to episode. Here is Jeff Goldblum, known for films like Independence Day and Jurassic Park. This time, he did not get the role of a scientist, but the character Grand Master, who rules the landfill planet, fit very organically into the episode that tells about the capture of Thor as a gladiator.
Of course, everyone recognized Anthony Hopkins as Odin. This is not “Silence of the Lambs” anymore, here he is a wise old man who takes a little time in the film. And of course, Benedict Cumberbatch, already known to everyone not as Sherlock, but as Doctor Strange.
It is also interesting that the director of the film - Taika Waititi - also starred in the film. He chose the role of Korg, already nicknamed "Mineral Man".
Success picture
The actors of the movie “Thor: Ragnarok” (2017) became something of a business card of a solid action with a share of humor, which definitely will appeal to MARVEL fans, comic books about superheroes and fans of the entire series of films that preceded this film in a plot.
Many of the cinema were reminded of “Guardians of the Galaxy” - the same flat humor that sometimes causes a smile, the same plot of a great threat that will lead to the death of everything. But if James Gann managed to make a great canvas that can be watched from beginning to end with a smile, then, despite these actors, the film “Thor: Ragnarok” (2017) (photo below) sometimes causes a frank facepalm.
Thor's Hammer
The film is colorful and dynamic, but, frankly, the picture is designed for a one-time session in 3D. For understanding, it is necessary to disassemble the plot on the shelves.
It should be said that Thor is represented very one-sidedly: limited and predictable. All this has already been seen in other MARVEL films, and it is a question of both solo albums and films where the God of Thunder helps other superheroes.
Speaking of the God of Thunder. You should turn to the original source - Scandinavian mythology. What is Thor represented in ancient myths? A mighty warrior in a chariot drawn by two black goats. And no one could lift it Mjöllnir, because in him the whole burden of the universe. And also, in order to keep the Hammer, God had to wear iron black gloves and a mighty belt. What are the directors from MARVEL presenting: Vision has already exploited the superhero toy, Captain America slightly rocked, and Hel completely broke it.
Yes, of course, the film should be taken as a separate picture, like a movie outside the framework and canons. But, in this case, the "Marvel" Thor significantly loses to his Scandinavian original.
Criticism of the plot
As mentioned above, in the film “Thor: Ragnarok” (2017), the actors are recognizable and perceived by the audience with a bang and with applause. But such a "constellation" creates a mixed impression.
Chris Hemsworth - it’s immediately clear that for the main role, the savior of everything, this is not even discussed. It is thrown onto the distant planet Sakaar, which is a mountain of garbage (it would be more logical to call the Landfill), where the Grand Master extravaganza rules. This begs the first question: what is Jeff Goldblum doing here? Through the efforts of MARVEL, Thor was already transformed from the Thunder God into a regular teen superhero. And after the appearance of Goldblum, he became completely perceived as an ordinary alien from outer space.
Tom Hiddleston on the invariable role of Loki is kept average, but the Scandinavian original is much superior to him. Firstly, according to ancient legends, he has red hair and a beard (like Thor), and secondly, he is not only the God of Cunning, but also Fire. And thirdly, if he is also a master of reincarnation, what prevented him from taking the form of any living creature in order to escape from this totalitarian Coliseum, returning to Asgard and continuing his reign in the form of Odin?
Further, if Thor is the God of Thunder, why is it easily knocked out by the discharge of electric shock in the neck? Nonsense.
Ragnarok
And now about the last battle. The film is not in vain so named. If you read the description, you can see, it says that the actions of Loki led to the approach of Ragnarok, Thor will have to find his friend Hulk to unite, to repulse the ancient demon Surtur.
Does the movie fit the description? No! In fact, Surtu (in Old Norse Surtr, which translates as “black”) in the film takes no more than twenty minutes (a little at the beginning and even less at the end). And the main characters should repulse not at all to him, but Hel herself.
Further, what is Ragnarok? According to Elder and Younger Eddam, this is the name of the battle of the gods, where such will converge with the forces of evil on the field of Wigrid. This event is preceded by a number of signs: the death of the god Balder, the centuries-old winter Fimbulvinter, feuds of relatives. And also at the time of the battle from Helheim, the Naglfar ship, completely made from the nails of the dead, will sail at the steering wheel of which Humir (according to the Younger Edda) or Loki (according to the Elder Edda), the Jotuns and the army of the dead will land on the battlefield for the battle with Ases. So where is Ragnarok?
Verdict
In conclusion, it should be noted that this is the case when a poor-quality author’s idea is “exported” at the expense of celebrities. The actors of the movie “Thor: Ragnarok” (2017) jump on the Avengers storyline from one picture to another.
Replace actors with unknowns, and no one will even watch the film. In the industry, this is called "naked exposure." If the idea is clearly not very designed for one session in 3D, the naked torso of the protagonist is shoved into the frame (as it was in Dracula (2014) and Tekken (2009)) and the ratings are increased by attracting the attention of adolescents. Apparently, they did not dare to expose Cate Blanchett.
The speculation of Western filmmakers with the names of the gods is not accepted by all spectators with a bang. But if the film did not go against the myth, the success of the picture would be much higher. In the end, MARVEL can make serious films. Logan, for example.
In general, in terms of the selection of actors, color and action, the rating is five. As for the plot - a weak three with a minus.
