Mystery is always kept by someone and guarded by something. The ancient secrets of the Egyptian pyramids, the sacred secrets of the Mayan Indians, the secrets of Tibetan monks. Where does the secret come from?
Mystery, the meaning of the word
The dictionaries give three meanings of this word:
- Something unknown, unsolved.
- What the uninitiated should not know.
- The hidden reason.
The root "tai", apparently, comes from the "hide", "secret place".
Secrets of nature
Some natural phenomena have not yet found an explanation. One such secret is the Taos noise. In the State of New Mexico, near the village of Taos, a sound similar to the operation of a diesel engine is heard. A person hears it, but the instruments cannot catch it. It is only known that these are very low sounds.
The Bermuda Triangle, lying in the ocean, is famous for the failure of navigation instruments and the loss of ships. It is not yet possible to study this phenomenon.
Another mystery is the Loch Ness monster, which they even managed to capture on film and video media. Its nature is unclear to this day, scientists only speculate: a sea snake is a descendant of dinosaurs. Does it really exist or is it a matter of fabrication? The expeditions did not find anything worthy of attention, but eyewitness accounts continue to come.
Craft secrets
In the Hermitage, ancient Greek gold products are stored, covered with a pattern of the finest golden balls. Ancient jewelers soldered them, but how they did it is still unclear. Modern technologies allow a lot, but such small balls either do not solder or melt.
There is a similar technique, grain, but the balls there are much larger. Apparently, the melting point was clearly verified. But the ancient masters did not have burners and appliances.
The Stradivarius violin has a wonderful concert sound. The master did not reveal the secret to anyone. They tried to look for the cause in the materials, the composition of the varnish, and the uneven inner surface. All attempts to explain the formation of a pure strong sound failed. For more than three hundred years, the tools of the master live, but do not age. They sound like they sounded under Stradivarius.
Secret in Scripture
The familiar expression “the mystery of the seven seals” originates in the Bible. The apostle John received a revelation in which he who sits on the throne holds in his hands a book sealed with seven seals. Gradually, the Lamb of God removes them and John describes the future that was hidden in the scroll.
A mystery, the meaning of which is gradually being revealed, is the content of the book of Revelation. Now the expression has acquired a figurative meaning and means inaccessible knowledge. It can be found in an ironic context: “Also to me, the mystery behind seven seals! Everyone knows that. ”
"Mystery" is the word that is mentioned in Revelation once again. In a vision, the Babylonian harlot sits on a red beast, and on her forehead has the inscription "secret." This means that it hides the truth from people.
In the end, everything secret becomes clear. Time passes, and all the knowledge that the ancients carefully concealed is made available to people. But some secrets still apply. Moreover, one cannot do without them.
The secret of bank deposits
According to the law of the country, a credit institution must keep secret about the movement of depositor accounts. There is even article 26 of the Federal Bank Secrecy Act. This does not mean hiding information from law enforcement agencies if the client is a criminal offender.
In Switzerland, for over 300 years, banks have guaranteed the preservation of information. Even under Louis XVI, the Swiss Minister of Finance was. A law was passed under which a bank clerk went to jail for violating the secrecy of the deposit.
The European Union passes legislation to help track taxation. But Switzerland is not a member of the EU, and the law does not apply to it. Its banks continue to store one third of global private capital. The Swiss bank has become a symbol of reliability.
