Ulan-Ude Locomotive Car Repair Plant (Zheldorremmash branch) is a large organization in Buryatia. The region, which is serviced by the plant, covers a huge distance (from the North to the Far Eastern Railway), and the produced spare parts are sent for sale abroad.
A bit of history
In 1932, it was decided to build a plant where steam locomotives and wagons would be repaired; this was a grandiose construction project, in which the whole country took part. And in 1934 the first steam locomotive was repaired.
During the war years, the factory workers repaired wagons, locomotives, and also produced special products and sent them to the front. Three times the factory was awarded the Red Banner of the State Defense Committee.
Currently, UU LVRZ is constantly upgrading equipment to increase the volume of products and change for the better the conditions in which employees work.

Ulan-Ude locomotive and car repair plant is located in the Republic of Buryatia, in the city of Ulan-Ude, on Limonova street 2b. You can get to it by routes number 3, 23, 46, 51, 57, 177; by trams No. 1, 2, 4, 5. You need to get off at the “LRZ Passage” stop.
The number of employees is more than 5 thousand people. Administrative staff are open Monday through Friday from 08:00 to 17:00, with a lunch break from 12:30 to 13:30.
The plant consists of three main industries, in which rolling stock is repaired and modernized, 12,000 types of spare parts are manufactured, as well as various tools.
Locomotive repair production. Here, repairs of locomotives, wheelsets, as well as the manufacture of spare parts are carried out.
Foundry and mechanical production - manufacturing of parts and blanks: components of automatic couplings and axle boxes, cylinders, gears, springs.
Auxiliary production. This production includes workshops that provide the enterprise with energy resources, transportation, tools, with the help of which overhaul of equipment, buildings, equipment dismantling and installation are carried out.
Factory news
In July 2018, new equipment with a total value of several million rubles was sent to the distillery to carry out a program to repair new locomotives. It is planned to modernize the electric machine production, in which 120 million rubles will be invested, and the wheel, the improvement of which, according to preliminary estimates, will cost 330 million.
When summing up the work results for the first half of the year, 100% of the volume of repair was established, an increase in the volume of overhaul amounted to 53%, repair of electric locomotives - 8.5%.
In October, UU LVRZ opened its doors to schoolchildren and students; in total, about three hundred people visited the workshop and museum. Young people learned about the history and prospects of this enterprise, visited workplaces and took direct part in master classes.
On October 29, 2018, in honor of the 100th anniversary of Komsomol, on Komsomolskaya Square at the monument to fallen soldiers, a capsule was laid with a letter for young people in 2043.The installed capsule and tablet were made by employees of the Ulan-Ude locomotive-car repair plant.
