Mostly they are fed by snowmelt - 50%, slightly less groundwater - 30%, even less rain - 20%. The spring period is characterized by high floods, which lasts about a month. Surprisingly, in summer and winter, the water level is low. The rivers of the Kursk region are opened in the middle of the calendar spring.
There are almost 900 lakes in the region. Their total area is approximately 200 square kilometers. In the spring they have a high standard. The lowest is in August. 785 artificial reservoirs were erected in the region, including ponds and small reservoirs, the total area of which is 242 square kilometers.
Thus, the climate of the Kursk region is caused by humidity due to the presence of a dense river network and a large number of water bodies, including artificial ones.
