“Kuban Cossacks” is a musical comedy of the times of the USSR, which was directed by I. Pyryev according to the script of N. Pogodin. It was in this masterpiece that E. Savinova made her debut, in the future the popular darling Frosy Burlakova (“Come Tomorrow”), the equally talented performer K. Luchko found the love of her whole life. Songs, first played in the picture, immediately received the status of folk. Until now, “What you were, so you remained” and “Oh, viburnum is blooming” are an integral attribute of feasts. Actors of the film "Kuban Cossacks" (1950) are deservedly considered the real stars of the Soviet film industry.
History of creation
Pyryev came up with the idea of creating a film project on a rural fair immediately after completing work on "The Legend of the Siberian Land." After the approval by the group of censors of the Mosfilm film studio of the script “Merry Fair” by N. Pogodin, the selection of actors of the film “Kuban Cossacks” (1950) began.
The wife of the director Marina Ladynina was immediately approved for the role of Galina Ermolaeva-Peresvetova. The image of Gordey Gordeevich Voron after much trial and reflection was given to the theater actor named after Vakhtangov Sergey Lukyanov. In the story, the heroes lead two prosperous collective farms, have deep sympathy for each other, but hide their feelings, competing in labor feats. Friendly rivalry in that time period was narrated by many Soviet films. “Kuban Cossacks” at the same time also told a love story.
Leading Actresses
In the film “Kuban Cossacks” (1950), the actors, according to the director’s idea, played in a somewhat unusual role. For example, Marina Ladynina, before working with Pyryev, played the roles of fervent and fighting young heroines. The image of a mature woman, solid, decisive and business, at the same time emotional and responsive, did not immediately succeed the actress.
For the role of Dasha Shelest, unexpectedly for everyone, a little-known novice performer Klara Luchko was approved. According to the memoirs of the actress, with the director I. Pyryev, fate pushed her in the corridors of the Film Actor Theater. Glancing at the beauty passing by, the director invited her to audition, despite the fact that in the original list of applicants for the role, her surname did not appear. Upon completion of the filming, almost all the actors of the film “Kuban Cossacks” (1950) were invited to the celebration of the wedding of Sergei Lukyanov and Klara Luchko.
The work of Ivan Pyryev lifted Luchko to an unattainable height, after the premiere of the film, all Soviet directors tried to get the performer at least for an episodic role.
The earth is filled with hearing
Unlike her, the second debutant of the project, Ekaterina Savinova, who reincarnated on the screen as Lyubochka, did not immediately become a sought-after actress. According to unconfirmed rumors, Pyryev blocked her doors to the world of cinema, the claims of which the actress rejected. Fame and popular love came to Savinova after she played the main role in the film "Come Tomorrow", on which her husband, film director Evgeny Tashkov, worked.
In the extras of the tape, many local residents were involved. For several shooting days, many villagers made good money at the time, as farmers were paid almost 25 rubles a day.
