You will learn about this from this article.

Childhood

Andrei Smolyakov was born in 1958, November 24, in the city of Podolsk, Moscow Region. He grew up in a simple Soviet family, where dad worked in the fire department, and his mother worked as a teacher. At the age of three, Andrei suffered from meningitis. After a serious illness, doctors forbade the boy from any serious workload. However, Smolyakov ignored all medical restrictions and began to play sports. Until the age of seventeen, the boy professionally played volleyball and was even invited to various teams. In addition, Andrei performed as part of a vocal and instrumental ensemble, participated in a reader’s contest, and was a part of a secret youth team reading greetings and speeches at various party conferences. The future actor Andrei Smolyakov spent his childhood in the firehouse, where his father worked. A garage for fire engines was located on the ground floor, and firefighter families lived on the second floor. The boys were impatiently waiting for their fathers to return from the next task, because they were allowed to wash the car from the hose. Even the tomboys loved to climb an abandoned tower with the height of a five-story building in order to admire the Moscow fireworks on Victory Day. Andrei did not dream about the career of an actor. The boy saw himself as a neurosurgeon, attended the Young Medic club, and was seriously preparing for entrance exams at a medical university. However, fate decreed otherwise.

Nevertheless, Smolyakov passed all stages of entrance exams with honor and unexpectedly turned out to be a student of the B.V. Shchukin Theater School. Three years later, Andrei decided to transfer to the State Institute of Theater Arts, now the famous GITIS, on the course of O. Tabakov. During this period, Oleg Tabakov himself did not get tired of praising the actor. The famous director called him an artist who does not need to prove anything. And he claimed that Andrei will always find a place in his studio. The role of Mowgli was a turning point in the fate of Smolyakov. The fact is that the rector of the Shchukin school forbade the student to attend a studio located in the basement, under the guidance of the dubious Tabakov. The young man had two weeks to think. Andrew made a choice in favor of GITIS. The blue-eyed and fair-haired "Mowgli" at first did not like the other participants in the production. But Smolyakov quickly proved that he was a super-talented actor, and managed to win a worthy place among the students of Oleg Pavlovich.
