Andrei Igorevich himself claims that before starting his studies at the Shchukinsky school he never attended a drama theater. Nevertheless, Smolyakov passed all stages of entrance exams with honor and unexpectedly turned out to be a student of the B.V. Shchukin Theater School. Three years later, Andrei decided to transfer to the State Institute of Theater Arts, now the famous GITIS, on the course of O. Tabakov.
