Very often, when visiting a doctor, we are forced to do a biochemical blood test. What lies behind the results, fractionally inscribed in a special form, is known only to medical professionals. It’s important for us to have an idea of which indicators are normal and which make us look for the cause of problems in the body.
Human blood is a container of shaped elements that perform certain functions in the body. If a patient is prescribed a biochemical blood test, normal values should be considered depending on age. In addition, some indicators in women and men are different even in the norm - this is also worth considering when doing a biochemical blood test, the normal indicators of which, as mentioned above, are individual.
Consider the blood "in parts." Plasma, which is a component of blood, for the most part consists of water, proteins, inorganic and organic substances. In addition, oxygen and carbon dioxide are present here. Blood biochemistry, indicators of the system largely depend on the quality of the plasma, because it is it that performs a significant part of the work to maintain homeostasis, participates in the metabolism, removal of waste from the body.
A significant role belongs to proteins - albumin and globulin. The former transport bilirubin, fatty acids, metal salts, medicinal substances by blood. Albumins are produced by the liver and determine blood pressure, provide tissue and cells with nutrition.
The second category of proteins - globulins - transfers fats, hormones, participates in the formation of antibodies. A variety like immunoglobulins protects the body from diseases. A blood test, biochemistry, decoding of the results in the presence of a disease always show an increased amount of immunoglobulins. This means that pathological processes occur in the body, to which the body responds by increased production of this particular protein variety. Usually, with this result, the doctor will pay special attention to the kidneys, liver, intestines, gynecology. This type of protein, as C-reactive, with its increased indicator, indicates a prolonged inflammatory process.
If the patient did a biochemical blood test, normal indicators will tell the doctor about the content of calcium, sodium, cholesterol, iron, bilirubin. Of course, each person’s level of these substances will be different and this is normal, but a deficiency in certain groups of the population of calcium and phosphorus can lead to serious consequences, which must be prevented as soon as possible.
Another component of the blood is lipids. They are also divided into groups. I note that the norm of lipid parameters depends on age - the older a person, the higher his level. If lipids are elevated, then a gastroenterologist, cardiologist or endocrinologist may need to be consulted, as this situation may indicate the presence of liver diseases, atherosclerosis, and diabetes mellitus.
Carrying out a biochemical blood test, glucose should also have normal indicators - this is very important, since glucose as a whole reflects the level of "energy" in the body. If glucose is low, it means the body is depleted and suffers from a lack of energy. Typically, these patients experience fatigue, lack of sleep, lethargy, and fatigue.
Blood also carries hormones throughout the body, which are responsible for many processes. These are growth hormones, sex hormones, thyroid hormones and others. Thanks to the coordinated work of organs and the circulatory system in the body, hormonal balance is established, the violation of which leads to serious consequences. And the treatment of the hormonal sphere is one of the most difficult.
Even though the patient is guided in the basic indicators of blood, the final diagnosis is made by the doctor, taking into account all the features.
